Please forgive my ignorance but BITD, if i wanted a new seatpost or clamp, I went out and bought one and didn't worry about the diameter of the tube.
I know there are 22.2mm (7/8") clamps and 1 1/8" clamps too.
What bike fits what size clamp, please? Is it always the way that an OS bike will have a 22.2mm clamp, or did some manufactureres opt for a specific size for all their bikes?
This will really help me as I'm trying to build up three f&f at the moment (Master, Streetbeat and Pro Performer) and I can't find my bloody tape measure. :D
Thanks

Old school seatposts are 7/8" (22.2mm), the clamps are 1" (25.4mm).
Most new school seatposts are 1" (25.4mm) and the clamps are 1 1/8" (28.575mm)
I think that's about right ???

Great, thanks.
I hoped it was something like that.

This is a Vernier caliper, but don't get a digital one, cos when you go to use it, the battery has gone :(
