Fot me it would have to be Eric Rupe. Still involved in the sport to this day and never give up racing, a true BMX race legend :) :) :) :coolsmiley: :coolsmiley: :coolsmiley:

What Andy said ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ :daumenhoch:

I know nothing about racing, but I got into BMX watching the kelloggs in 85.
my first racing heroes (& heroine!) were Geth Shooter and Sarah-Jane Nicholls...
Stateside, I was really impressed by Tommy Brackens.
Other than that, I thought Wayne Llewellyn, Dale Holmes, Whoppa Watkins were all good.
If I had to say one name as the greatest (bearing in mind i know nothing), then I would have to say Sarah-Jane Nicholls. Only ever watched racing in the Kelloggs. Won 5 out of 6 in 84 (finished second in the only one she didn't win) and won 6 out of 6 in 85. Total Domination! :4_17_5:

-
greg hill - US
Jamie Staff - been around for yonks
rocks up at a tack session at the Manchester Velodrome and does the "kilo" in a stupidly quick time.
Now has track world champ medals. (I reckon he'll get a bronze at bejing) Not seen any BMX'ers make a transistion like that.
-
For me it goes without question,Harry Leary has to be in your top 5 BMX'ers of all time. :daumenhoch:
Dude was a total psycho on 2 wheels,he won just about everything there was to win.
When JMC thought he was washed up & released him from contract,an emerging DB stepped up & signed him as their first pro rider, the rest is history. :coolsmiley:
He's still envolved in the sport & still races, owns a track in so-cal & is one hell of a nice guy.He attends big gatherings state side & won't turn down autograph seekers, one of the guys I know from OS had him sign tons of stuff & Harry wanted his pic taken on the Turbo he brought to the gathering. He saw it & was amazed at the quality of the build & wanted his pic taken while sitting on it,Loren just wanted Harry to sign for him but almost died to have him posing on it for the pic. :daumenhoch:

-
i go for stompin stu

and a great ambassdor of the sport :4_17_5:
-
Stompin Stu for me !!
-
In the UK,Andy Ruffell,I know he didn`t do much against the yanks but he defo lifted the profile by miles,Clint Miller from across the pond...just because he was called Clint and always looked immaculate, the Kuwi gear was so cool... :daumenhoch:
-
Greg Hill, because he was on top in what for me wasthe golden age, 82-84.

-
i'm surprised at the lack of folk voting for the lumberjack- gary ellis.
-
Thompson
Leary
Hill
Rupe
In no particular order, just for making BMX happen. Hats off to ya!!!!!!
-
ST - he's the Babe Ruth of BMX, according to Wikipedia... Or was Babe Ruth the ST of Baseball?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stu_Thomsen
-
From the UK, Holmes, Staff, DC and Geth from the Boys. SJN for the o/s girls, but Shinny Reade is a step above every one else now and she's only about 18 so you can't call her a legend yet or can you??
Pond side, Stu Thompson and Greg Hill from the os, but Kyle Bennit, Bubba Harris and Mike Day are gonna big for years to come.
Some serious tallent has come from Europe over the years but Leveque a legend for sure.
If I had to chose one................... Stu Thompson, just because.
-
Of the Americans, Stompin' Stu Thomsen, Tinker Juarez (the original King of Skateparks) and Eddy King have got to be right up there. From the UK, deffo Andy Ruffell, Geth Shooter and DH.com :daumenhoch:
