Hi everyone,
I wondered if anyone knew the Free Agent timeline, ie what models for what years.
I'm getting one pretty sure, but don't know what year it is. (Been told mid 80's)
Any info would be great!

best bet is to get onto VBMX mid school
and get Galen Starlin talking
he's ex factory FA in the mid 80's to early 90's
it should have a serial on rear right drop
MM YY XXXX (if its on BB shell then its a later mid 90's i think)
from 87ish on the limo replaced the pro long
it has a extra bar across chain stays near BB
plus the machined head and BB
get some pics up paul

lurvely 21" top tube :)
one of the other VBMX regulars sean riggs did some early script font decals
he may have some left
if its a later model and needs the squarer font check out bmx musemum
they did have them - think repeat think it was 89 the decal stlye changed

Kev, where can I get the decals? (Any links to save my poor smashed wrist? - Speaking of which - gotta have 1 more operation to put a titanium plate put in meaning it'll never be able to move any more, but will be set in a rider friendly position, and will be pain free! Yeehaw! However it also means I'll miss out on the British Champs this year :( )

Kev,it's got the square stickers,yet it's an 88.Do you reckon they were added.I haven't seen any other pre-89/90 frames with the later font..They're shot anyway,so I'll either go for the team decals on BMXM,or try and get some script repros....
If I get time I'll build it up for the next hersden..

i asked shawn (kastanman on VBMX) who did the script decals
& he said he had seen early 89 with script decals and also late 88 with block
so it seems it would be prob orig on yours there
also meaning then you could use either no worries
may have to get mine sorted now then
esp as ratty's thinking of 24" OS race at hersden in june
nice to see the brand getting some daylight at last

I'm thinking it's a pro...TT is 20.75....Shortest cruiser I've had,although should make hopping between 20" & 24" a bit easier...

Woohoo!!
Got the bike today, it has Redline 400's with sealed BB, Chrome Arayas with Sealed Chrome suzue hubs, Shimano DX pedals, plus spare bear traps, full padset, suede saddle and a plate etc. etc.
What a fantastic find - AND ONLY 150 QUID!!!

I remember before S&M got big alot of the dirt jumpers were riding FAs. very heavy duty frames for sure. the one in the first pic is my main rider and has been for a long time. I don't just cruise either >:D

Bars look like powerlites (I think they had the power bend didn't they?) Only prob is that they have been cut down way to far! Stem is a good length - Tioga, but lowers the bars - meaning I'll need a taller pair - anyone got some half decent bars for sale?

I've been chatting with Dale Holmes about the bike, and he said that most of the factory team ran with light blue framesets.

Getting the Old script red decals with black outline. (They changed in 1989 so just right for my bike)
I rode it at Daggers yesterday after dropping my daughter off to her mums for about an hour and really loved it! I mean REALLY loved it, nice n long and rode like a dream compared to my other old school rides I have had.
All I can say is anyone looking for an old school bike that feels a bit more stable - go for a Free Agent! (Bet the cruiser must feel fantastic to ride!)
