Hey just started the resto of my second bike a Britsh built SRE.
Interested to know if anyone has any knowledge of these, they were hand built in the early 80's in Poole in Dorset By a guy named Sanders, hence Sanders Racing Equipment, SRE.
They had a factory team which raced at Iford, Poole and around the south coast.
The main racer was Steve Sanders, the builders son, he was super fast (about 2/3 years older than me as I remember). I'm sure Steve knocked about with Tim March and other Bounemouth riders.
Mine is one of the bigger frames I think it was made only for the team? It was chrome when I got it but gonna make it Red again (the factory colour).
Hoping to have this built up by MK.
More pics as it goes on- Soot.

Looks very different, would be good to see what it looked like bitd :daumenhoch:
What are the quality of the welds like, difficult to see in the pic?
-
tri-angle frame interesting
-
Good welds fella, these were very well made frames, all chrome moly.
This one is only rusty because I've left it after its de-chrome acid bath.
Gonna wet and dry it and get some powder on it.
Already had the decals repro'd so it is gonna look like it did BITD. Soot.

I remember SRE frames, also remember Steve Sanders he was a big old unit even back then.
I nearly bought a very similar frame to that last year, wish I did now. I absolutely loved those frames bitd.
-
Hey Stidds where did you see another frame for sale?-Soot.
-
there was one on ebay about a year ago but it was cracked at the headtube, i love these small production frames, nice change from the norm, gonna be sweet when finished.......................unless you smother it in shit bits and top it off with a generic braced layback :LolLolLolLol:
-
This is the one with the crack which has been repaired. Heres a thing I can remeber Steve Sanders Cracking one at Southampton on the table top in the 80's on a race day. Maybe this is it?
As for the parts yeh was gonna find the cheapest Fuan/changstar copies, a pair of v-bars and finish it of with tinstle. :uglystupid2: :LolLolLolLol:

i bid on that frame but never got it >:( they had a small bike shop between poole and bournemouth,i think they were one of the first to use radial spoking bitd,im not 100% sure but i think they specialised in cycle speedway too, great frame cant wait to see it built up,i remember racing him ,he raced in my age group, later on he went to race for mrd.
-
When I went to pick the frame up, the guy lived right opposite where the shop used to be in Poole and he didn't know it. The frame had not gone far!
It wouldn't surprise me if Steve rode for MRD i'm sure he was mates with Tim March.
-
hi sooty did you race on the south coast bitd, your avitar looks like bournemouth track?
-
Yeh I raced the southcoast from 81' to about 84' ,this pic is of Bounemouth I'm guessing about 82'.
