Title: My new Baby ! Baby Blue PK Ripper !
Post by: brass monkey! on May 28, 2007, 08:57 PM
Hi y'all

I picked up my PK Ripper from Dan (superbikedan) on Saturday, I must say I am totally thrilled with the result.

Dan basically rebuilt this frame, as it had some serious corrosion to the alimunium, and Powder Coating just wouldn't go, so it's been done in two-pack, plus a fair few hours of Dan's time and expertise !

The colour is beautiful, looks real close to SE Blue !

Big, big thanks to Dan - top man !  :daumenhoch:
also big thanks to Kev (Hotplate) and Jason (ORANGEZIPPY) for all your help !

hope you like the colour ! (PS, hope to have it built up within the next 2 weeks)

Matt

now thats an under statement ;D  this frame was nearly two weeks in the making

first of  when i stripped it it looked bad but i powdered it anyway and when i opened the

oven door i was horrified to see all my work look like an aero chocolate bar >:(

i phoned matt and told him the frames fooked,  the alloy is so corroded that it will not take the

heat of the oven, next step was to have it blasted and paint it two pack,  this is where the hours of work

kick in,  when i collected it from the blasters it looked like it was covered in 80 grit paper so after around

two hours of flatting the blasting down the primeing began, all last week was priming, flatting, priming flatting

and so on till i built the frame up smooth,  about 5 man hours later it was ready for top coat and now you see the

finish :coolsmiley: ;)

Thats a real nice job, it's nice to see the before as well then you realise whats gone into it.  :smitten:

What head set are you using though ? I fitted my Landing Gear forks and there is only just enough thread sticking out to put the locknut on. I did think the forks had been cut down but couldn't see any marks. Are they all quite short ?

just a cheap DB headset, just to put the forks on, didn't even stick the top nut on,
forks seems std size 4" thread

Oh ok. I reused my old Tioga Beartrap one and it seemed a bit tall. Perhaps the threads on the forks have been trimmed a bit. No worries just interested thanks.
