Title: Union Ratraps 9/16ths to 1/2 inch
Post by: tr8theshape on October 31, 2005, 08:21 PM
Is it possible to swap union rat traps from 9/16ths to 1/2 inch?? If so how's it done??

Can't see how to get the end caps off  :(

I have a pair of 1/2 inch which are a bit rough and would like to buy new but can only find 9/16ths so would like to buy the 9/16ths and swap the insides.

Any help greatly appreciated!  :)

Don't the ends just prise off with a screwdriver? Is this the shape your thinking of?(http://x1.putfile.com/10/28613581915.jpg) (http://www.putfile.com)

Dunno about prising off (they are a bit mucky) but I'll have a butchers tomorrow.

That is 'the shape of things to come'!!  Not seen that pic before but reckon they are a great looking motor even today (if a touch rust prone  :'()  :)

Can't remember where I found that one. I was building a Group 4 replica till I lost my job but one day it will get done. Not got any digital photo's of mine but it needs painting yet so ain't beautiful. Cracking ID I use redgroup4-tr8 on E-bay.

I used to have a 2 litre TR7 total mint restore job which was real nice but a bit steady.  Changed it for an S+S Preparations 3.5 which had all the right bits, 3.08 diff, Holley carb, tubular manifolds.  Sounded awsome and went nicely too.  Sold it two years ago - miss everything about it but the rust!!!!  :'(

Hope you get yours all sorted - sounds awesome!

Right then,

Had a closer look at these things today and reckon that they will be OK.  One pedal is missing one reflector though, don't spose anyone has one available ???
