Bit confused about the two types of skyway bars. i belive that EZ Bars are the older of the two but what year did they come out ? then the pro bars are the ones with the knurling on the crossbars what year did they come out ? I also know about the single crossbar race bars what year did they come out ? thanks lads for any info :daumenhoch:
-
There are three sets of Bars.
MK1 EZ. Both Cross Bars are the same shape. Not as easy to get hold of as MK2s, but still quite a few about.
MK2 EZ these are the ones with the Knurling & the cross bars are different shape, Nice Bars & quite easy to get hold of.
Race Bars Single cross Bars, very rare & Expensive.
-
do you know what year mk1 ez bars with the matching crossbars came out & what would you expect to pay for some nos chrome ones :daumenhoch:
-
i think the MKI ones came out with the first Street Beats around 84.........you should expect to pay upwards of about £30 posted for a pair......although minty chrome ones are as rare as fook!!! white or green ones will be the most common.
what do you want them for?
I may be wrong though :daumenhoch:
-
right then, to add to the debate, i have a white set on my streetbeat, and i have a smaller set in grey, which are the same shape etc..
what are these then?
-
Im building an 83 TA for mk to ride about on. my bmx interest ended in about 83 when i started work so dont even remember street beats only TA's. Ive been offered a nos chrome set for $90 dollars posted thats about £44 from usa. I know a nice set of race bars would be proper but im not on beckhams wages. what do you think too dear or what ?
-
personally if it's for a TA and to race on....i wouldn't get the MKI bars as they have a tendency to bang your knees.......i'd go for some nice GT race bars or something?
But up to you mate :daumenhoch:

Race me race i was crap at it in 82 smallest kid on the gate only didnt come last cus there was a crash on the last str8. :LolLolLolLol: I just build them to hang on me wall now. a day at mk will probably kill me & thats just rolling around. so its just a peice of art to me now.

If I needed them I would pay that for them.
-
The smaller EZ-Pro bars are just a mini version that have a lower rise to compensate for having a rotor

I have a set of what i think are fake EZ bars and it's not easy to tell them apart from the real thing.
-
I think EZ bars are just Skyway race bars with two curved crossbraces. They look the same size and profile to me.
Buy a scabby pair of EZs... remove the curved bars and get a straight one welded in ??? Would this work... has anyone tried it? I fancied a set of Race Bars for my T/A and thought about giving this a go.
-
go on give it a go.......they'll be Proper Bo! :LolLolLolLol:

Andy , regarding the race bars and ez being the same it was asked a while ago, I had the 2 of them here to compare and there were some differences. I can't get to my race bars too easily to compare at the mo but from what I can remember the sweep was the same, race bars are certainly not as wide and i think the rise was lower....

Some dimensions on the race bars... curved Ez Bars and Later Ez bars would be kool if you can m8 ;) :daumenhoch:

ez2 bars have less rake than ez1's, but the ez1's shape look more like the race bars
