Can anyone tell me if this is a genuine TA frame number K001738, and if so what year.
Just interested before I hand over my hard earned cash.
Thanks,
Andrew
PS I need to know within a couple of hours, sorry.......

It sounds like a Japanese one to me. The serial number fits in with the others. Does it have a curved rear brake bridge?
Chrome or white frame? It's probably a very early 83 frame. :daumenhoch:

what do you think, the stamped numbers and writing on the BB look wrong to me.......
I'm desparately looking for a good TA and don't want to rush into something and regret it.
thanks for your help with this,
Andrew

Wel, it's chrome and it has a curved rear brake bridge like all the others i've seen with similar ident marks.
The cutout on the rear dropout looks right to me too. Can't see the forks well but the cutout on the dropout looks right there too.
Admittedy, the serial number position and type looks different to mine but then I haven't seen the serial on a Jap made frame sio it could be right.

worth a punt then???????

worth a punt then???????
I reckon it is. The tubing shape and dropouts look right to me. If it's a fake, it's a damn good one.
I wish you hadn't shwn me the ebay link though. i want it now. I need another one. NEED. :idiot2:
Don't worry, I won't go for it though :daumenhoch:

Hello all, reading this thread with interest, I have Skyway TA serial number 0000005 2-83. It has the curved rear brake bridge, with a tacked on washer over the hole, and appears the same in everyway to later models with the curved break bridge. I saw Skyway TA serial number 0000003 on ebay last year, and I believe that one, as well as mine does not have a letter K stamped into it, which seems to deepen the mystery further?!! Fascinating stuff really!

I would say that the frame is the 5th one that they made. :daumenhoch:
Where did ya get it from?
-
I imported it from the states after winning it on ebay last year, theres just something mysterious about early TA's which sets the mind thinking! Should be in a museum somewhere really, to think it could have been one of the first made on day 1 or 2 is just magic!

Yours is a USA model, fifth one made. :daumenhoch:
Munners got there first! Damn you, Munners :2funny:
Only the ones made in Japan had the 'K' prefix.

Nice one, and nice chrome job. Havent got round to doing mine yet! So it looks as though in their first month of production in February 83, Skyway made at least 426 frames !

Spot on hrd. TA's are my game. I would love that f+f. Sell it to me if you ever sell it mate :daumenhoch: That is a real treasure. Quality ;)
There is a thread on here somewhere. Can you make a note of the serial number mate in the thread.

Yep sure, to both. :daumenhoch: Wish I knew where serial number 01 was!

Gotta find the rest of the parts yet, it's getting harder to find certain things.
Don't know whether to go original chrome or (my favourite) white, the pop in white.......
I'll post some pictures soon.
