I am toying with the idea of running some spokes on my Torker2, I currently have ogk gt performer mags on it, the question is, which were the strongest/most suitable wheels around 85/86?
-
I think Peregrine HP48s or Araya 48s came out around that time.
Some 48 spokes would be the strongest :daumenhoch:
-
Yep....Peregrine 48's are the future!
Still think they're a great wheel 20 years on.
:daumenhoch:
-
Although Araya Aero's would be a very good choice too and were very popular on the freestyle front back then if you don;t want to stretch to the Peregrines :daumenhoch:

Peregrine 48's are the future!
if i can get a picture my mates from wheel is a custom drill perigrine 48 rim and suzue hub, 97 spoke wheel 8 cross pattern, its insane, reason for odd spoke number is due to valve hole
-
peregrines came out in 1986 ;) as did the gyro
peregrine 95s i need set.

lol cheers. I've seen others that are more rounded on the stem bar ends and have a hole either side. mk2s sort of curve up into a point on the stem bar a bit like kneesavers. definitely q's. sorry this has turned into a bit of a q bar thread. lol
-
yeah i thought these were very much like kneesavers but with an extra bar in the middle, there going on my 91 master :)
-
quimrider ye thats 2 freshes i have tonnes of pics now and am in the middle of building a set .

but i'd first seen them in a dorkin in york vid ;)

The shop i visited in the States when i was there a few weeks ago had a bike with 96 spoke wheels on it, looked the nuts. Also hanging on his wall was a Hoffman Evel Knevel and a Hutch Trickstar f&f he had just got. And some wheels that had the spokes twisted/crossed over, never seen em done like that before, wished I had my camera with me.
-
well how about some 144 spoke wheels, corr blimey guv dats some serious spokage :LolLolLolLol:
