Title: 3 piece crank for a rider
Post by: highrisedrifter on June 12, 2007, 06:58 PM
Hi there

I've only had one piece cranks on my builds as they are comparatively easy to fit.
I'm looking for a three piece crank for my T/A rider though, so I don't want anything too expensive.

Does anyone have any suggestions please?

Thanks

Whats your budget?  I would always say find some Profiles. There's usually some s/h knocking about.  If you're wanting cheap cheap cheap then I have a set of barely used Haro 3pc cranks which you could have for £20 or so, but they really aren't owt special....

I landed a second hand set from US for £50 including a profile ring and all hardware (and no duty :LolLolLolLol:)  they are a doddle to fit, nice to ride, cant fault em.  :daumenhoch:

profiles are excellent and havent changed a huge amount over the years so chrome ones would give an old school feel, check there "madera' cranks, you could chrome/powder them no probs,

new redline flights would work too, theyre not made in the usa anymore but that doesnt stop them being decent cranks.

have a look at AC racing aswell, theyre a bit cheaper and not as strong but should be fine on a race bike,

Redline prolines are good too. But brobably better to spend a little more and get flights.

The Profile/GT cranks are good too, and about 1/2 the price of Profiles.

I'll have a butcher's on the 'net when I get home from work and see if I can find somewhere that sells them.

Thanks for the help. Appreciated.

here's a good place to buy cranks

i run redline prolines
imo they are better than the twin pinch flites. cheaper too

think i paid 65 quid inc shipping from the states. they arrive quick too!!

get them in chrome, but here they are

sticker recess is normal so you can run old school stickers
they come with a sealed bb too and all the kit

the prolines have one fat bolt that you can do up tight, instead of the flites and their 2 spindly weak bolts.
