Title: unwanted bikes wanted for deprived children
Post by: jimwise68 on June 26, 2007, 11:29 PM
My other half works in a child protection team and has several youngsters who are really excited about BMXing but aren't lucky enough to own one.

She has asked me if I can find any unwanted bikes or bits to build some bikes up for these kids. She is thinking about starting a club for these kids and is looking to take them to Rom and Braintree track so they can experience all the things we do.

So if anybody has anything, and I mean anything lying around they don't want then please let me know.

All help really appreciated.

Lets put some fun into these unfortunte kids lives.

Great idea Jim, me an 796 were talking about doing somthing along these lines at Daggers. Write a letter to your local council and ask for some bikes from the recycling center :daumenhoch:

Jim, I've got some GT pedals for 1 piece crank I don't use (you can get em new for fiver off ebay) so I don't need these, threads perfect, pedals just a bit dirty and scuffed but still useable. These any good for the cause?

Local auction here had a 'Giant Competiton' BMX, chrome with blue parts, £20 reserve + commision and premium (~£27 ish).

Don't think Giant are sought after but sounds like it would've done for the cause...will keep a spy out for other stuff...wish recycling centres were more helpful as they get loads of old BMXs through them...
