Right i've been offered a very nice old school legal frame but it has a Euro BB. what the fook is that? and what BB fits it?
from memory does this mean i can use a MTB square taper BB like a Shimano BB??
Just need to know before i buy it? did they do Euro BB on Old school frames?
-
most cranks will go in a euro bb
you just gotta get the correct sized bearings
euro bbs have screw in cups
most sized bearings are available nowadays, with the popularity of the euro bb
you won't ram a 1pc through it though ;)
-
cheers mate.......but i thought all OS BMX were US bb and euro BB was found more on Mini's or cruisers?
-
is the freagent a standard bmx size ? im sure they did a limo as a cruiser aswell ? :daumenhoch:

-
No.....i'm afraid that's been welded onto the frame.....but i think it's a cruiser.
-
reckon you could saw off the post, leaving a bit sticking out, with a slot in it and slide in a regular post?
-
I have a nos spare Euro bb if you need one.
-
that does look small
esp as it has the euro BB
didn't lazy chubbs have a FA junior cruiser recently
you could look at some pics of his to compare
heres my 20" long pro (early limos) and that def looks like its top tube is much lower slung

-
yeah that would be a great help mate cheers :daumenhoch: what BB does that have? my guess is if yours has a standard US bb then this is a cruiser
-
pickle
yeap mines a US BB
usually the euro BB's were used on the smaller bikes
be interesting to see if its a mini / junior or junior cruiser
do you reckon you could get 24" wheels in the rear drops ?
whats that measure
i'd PM rhys too get a look at the one he has
-
Thanks mate.....but from what looked like a nice cheap project, looks like it could end up being both expensive and not what i'm looking for.
-
euro bb'd bikes are always harder to find replacement cranks for.
-
Euro BB's for 19mm crank axles are easier to find (Profile, 41Therm Ody) if it's 22mm (Primo etc) there hard to find an usually require a special installation tool which adds to the budget!
-
If you are not going to build it is it up for sale. MMMMM :)
-
i posted a pic over on VBMX and the conclusion was its most likley a junior 24"
-
Have a look in the for sale section i have a frame with euro BB all for sale for the price of a Bottom bracket :daumenhoch:
-
Ok, im confused! :idiot2:
If i have, for example a Skyway TA and i go on ebay US and buy a 401 flight crank will it not fit?

lol, you are funny.
US bottom brackets are the large ones originally designed to accomodate a 1pc crank. These are the type you get on 90% of bmx's
They are called US, because the 1pc crank was an american idea.
- Later 3 piece cranks got developed for the Large US bb size.
A Euro BB is what european bikes had, this is because we always had 3pc/2pc cranks in one form or another and didnt need the big BB to fit a 1pc crank in.
This is the size that all road bikes and mountain bikes use.
- doesnt matter what country they are from!
