Title: Mongoose experts needed.
Post by: lloydieboy on July 11, 2007, 06:08 PM
Hi all, i recently got an old Mongoose sent over from the States. The serial is CF9 172591. Anybody got any clues on year and what model it may have been?

Cheers,

Lloyd.

if it has a gusset, it's a '79

Red before yellow then! That's the exact frame i got. Real nice candy red colour it is... Cheersfor your help. Also, are these frames worth much?

If it is an original candy red then it is likely a team mongoose, should have a T stamped on the bb too!

I have just  taken delivery of a January 1980 frame, I have the wheels I'm going to use so now it is out to the bay to get the rest of the parts ;D

if it's a tidy frame set you can get a good 150 for it - i got that for a chrome one anyway
maybe less if it's painted or nickel

if it's a restorer - then you can buy them for 70-90 quid, in the UK plus post. i reckon

best bet to buy one is from US ebay, or from the states (put  a wanted on vintage)
couple of years ago, i bought a couple for under 100 quid shipped, from putting a wanted ad on vintage. i have since sold them all but the yellow one, due to cash flow "issues". would love another though!
