the taj what is the story with this frame ???
is it designed for jumping/dirt ...street.its long, its beefy.
i just built one up and it feels odd very odd.us early model
alex the one you found.
i just am not sure the best way to build it up .
-
Um, I think you mean the one I found!
FFS what's a man gotta do to get credit around here?!
It's a dirt jump bike - but tough enough for anything!
-
:-* sorry lover you .i thought schuey found it
just feels so loooooooooong lol
-
I thought you liked it long?
-
i like to see the front i need a telescope
-
LOL
Have you alined the bars with the forks?
-
lol ye its still kinda sweet ride ,its not been restored just a bolt together to mess around on.
couldnt find any bolts to fit pegs on forks ,so fitted to axles but might remove all 4.
-
is it a us or tai frame?
-
us frame with the crushed tubing like the condor
-
sounds a bit extreme but i'd be looking at getting an early spooky made T1 barcode and building both them up as taj replica's :LolLolLolLol:
the fiola, dominguez, itson, haro, etc replicas that have been built are some of the best bikes i've seen built :daumenhoch:
not exactly nos but with a little patina?
its not easy to say what kind of build to go for as taj was riding everything at the time, a dirt build would seem more appropriate to me,
e-mail taj and ask him :LolLolLolLol:
straight up! :daumenhoch:
-
doesn't the TAJ stand for Totally Awesome Jumper? Think I read that somewhere recently but can't remember where :LolLolLolLol:
-
he is a bad ass rider.i always remembered him on street doing manuals for like ever and cool stuff
but the dirt thing ,i dont remember alot about that, bar a few indoor racing meets were they did mad flips
during the interval.
its a mishmash of bits at the minuite .it will re build soon

-

thats fooking spot on mate :daumenhoch:
peregrines,tenderizers,it all works,
is that a gack chainwheel?
-
cant remember the chainwheel make
im of to melbourne trails friday so wanted something i didnt mind lobbing about .so of with pegs
-
TAJ also stood for 'Todd's a Jerk' i think referring to Todd Huffman. I think some were released with those stickers.
-
I believe all those names for the 'TAJ' were put on after Taj left Hoffman...as they wanted to keep it in the range, but not keep it as a signature bike.
Dan - pull those bars back a bit (in line with the forks) and you'll find it much nicer mate. And BTW, love it. Very raw.
:daumenhoch:

ok boss is there any hoff tax to pay on this one :D

ok boss is there any hoff tax to pay on this one :D
Nope, I believe you taxed me on this one. ;) Or, perhaps we taxed each other? ???
-
cool another chrome USA Taj on here :coolsmiley:
mines got all the stickers on & the main 3 all have daft little statements using the T_A_J initials
Todds a Jerk (i also read this was aimed at Huffman ;))
Totally Awesome Jumper
and a bit of a Random one - tasty Alligator Jelly :idiot2:
it was made as a dirt jumping frame that was strong enough for street & vert if needed
built mine for dirt bitd hence no front brake or gyro, just a long flapping cable & cut down slams :daumenhoch:
full spec in Hoffman section of museum
my favourite BMX frame of alltime :daumenhoch:

when taj rode his signature hoffman, he rode most things. he ripped on vert, street and park as well as jumping
a kid i knew had one of them, one of the early ones in 1997.
i couldn't get on with it at all. the front end was really long, and the bottom bracket felt too low for me.
cool bikes though and i would like to ride one again
-
you can a mk ;)
