Just had the same problem, Feeze the cups then put the frame headstock in boiling water , then use plenty of wood and hammers.
-
thanks you lot i will do that it the cup that dont fit... i :knuppel2: slap it will a hammer
-
take it to any tin pot engineering company ( there everywhere) bung em a drink, n get one of the lads to press them in on their fly press, itl take bout 3 mins , and wont damage anythin :daumenhoch:
-
it wont split the alu frame ????? because i :'( then i :2gunsfiring_v1: him
-
bit of wd and use a drift, no direct hammering on cups.
-
the cup would collapse before the frame split.
-
Or just do what i do and take it into a bike shop (not Halfwits) and get it done properly ;)
-
some person(i forget who) made their own press out of drilled wood, threaded bar, washers and nuts, tighten with spanner and hey presto.
-
lol
building bikes is easy
no need to go to halfords
-
i know how you feel, i've just had to fit these headsets to two of my bikes and only managed to finish the job on one of them. You need a headset press.
-
you could get away with 2 blocks of wood, some allthread (sell it at b and q) and big washers though?
