does a 15t freewheel fit a normal rear hub i.e. not flip flop
as i would like to fit one on my peregrine super pro hub,
any advice please
-
ACS used to do one, Meddle gave me one for my lads GT Junior but I don't think you can get them anymore as nowhere seems to have them in stock. I also heard they were not good for larger riders :(.
-
nice one i'll keep an eye out ;)
-
would that be the acs 15t fat freewheel ?
-
I have a 15t freewheel somewhere which I seem to recall was made by AP Racing. It worked fine until it got dust in it and then the palls stayed out and the freewheel freewheeled!! I got it running again by soaking it in paraffin but have reservations about letting my boys race with it. When I get a chance to dig it out the trailer I'll check out who it's made by and post again. Humps

nice one humps, let me know if you want rid of it too :)

A normal 15tooth wontfit but AC racing made some for a while but i believe they where very unreliable :)

yeah the very unreliable bit is worrying :LolLolLolLol:

It's the AC Racing 888 freewheel.

I'll ask in my local bike shop, same place I got my previous one from.
Never had a problem when it was on my bike.

unreliable and a link to sh*tstanleys..... not a great combination i'm afraid.....

Just wondering about that freewheel, which I've been told to avoid a couple of times now. If it does fail, how do you get it back off? Is there a special tool involved?
-
Freewheels unscrew in the freewheeling direction anyway. Failed or not, you always need a tool

AC racing 888 15 tooth still for sale at ace bmx in usa not sure about UK ,got to of em work fine for everyday needs. i was able to run a 2.15 tyre on the back and use a 36 tooth sprocket the increase in overall wheel diameter made it fell like i was only one gear ratio down. i am happy with it as the homer hubs i got do not look like dieing anytime soon. i hear they discontinued them but i haven't had a prob.

I got an AC racing freewheel, nice bit of kit.

Sorry, I should've said 'special and rare tool'.
I've got a freewheel removing bolt in the shed, but it'd be no use on this and hasn't been on any freewheel I've ever owned.

How do you usually get them off?
If they are knackered its easy: Crush them in a vice till the tooth ring cracks and falls off. Then hold the inner block in the vice and unscrew the wheel (while standing knee deep in freewheel bearings)

The ACS 888 I got from Meddle uses an ISIS fitting so I use my RaceFace ISIS BB tool to remove it. The Four point fixing like the Shimano DX and Suntour freewheels always come off OK, the sh1tty ones can be those with a two point fixing but if you are careful they can come off a dream too.

Didn't get down to my local bike shop, will try to make it on Monday.
As for Trevs comment about Winstanleys, they are fine as long as you only order stuff that's in stock. I've never had a problem with them and I've ordered plenty. There are people on here that have had trouble though.

Checked with both of my local shops, neither had one. Realised that the one I gave to Marty was bought back in 2004!
-
I used to run a 41/15 gearing and it was spot on! i used the Shimano 15t freewheels and they used the smaller side of a flip flop hub.
Not sure if you can get them for the larger thread.
I picked up a NOS Shimano 15t FW on Ebay the other week for £4. :daumenhoch:

thanks for the link meddle,
i'll give one of those a try!!

Don't order it from the link I gave you as they have no stock. They will take your money though.
The link below is the UK distributor and they have no stock so I don't like your chances.
