An old Haro Master, bashguard model. In fact, it's Mat Hoffman's old frame that he pulled the first ever 180 flip (it was a bit too up-n-down to call it a "flair") at the UK KOV in Mansfield back in 1990.
It was a seminal moment in BMX. Mat pulled this trick, then immediately rode round the back of the ramp and presented the bike to a kid whose dream it was to meet Mat Hoffman as part of his Make A Wish day out. The kid was just blown away.
The bike made it back to Ride BMX Mag a year or two later and now you have the chance to bid to own this piece of history.
You can see the moment of madness here:

Stodgy will be all over this!
-
he will,i will have a dabble

Its great that this frame is being sold for the Murray benefit.
Its great that this sort of stuff is coming out of the woodwork (like Tims MRD frame), and also that people are willing to get rid of it to help Stephen out.
-
Fook. I need that.
How can we be sure it is definately his? I thought the bike went with the kid and was never seen again?
-
now there's a basis for a rider replica!
-
I remember that like it was yesterday and i just realised it was 17 years ago!!
-
So Grant, do they have any proof that it is Hoffman's actual frame?
-
anyone could say it hoffman bike ,blimey i could say my one was rode by hoffman and why it only a frame only in such poor condition as if i got a frame by a pro or bike i would keep it as it is . also if has forks they should be bent as haro`s allways bent and he did do a few bad landings

Personally I thought he rode an 89 model frame back then ? (when he did the flair)

Didn`t we all have floppy hair @ mansfield???
-
yoda didnt :)

I think I was a little furthe back than the camera that took the film. One of the guys I was with was the first person to shake Matts hand after he did the fip 180. Soon after that my mate got a condor!
That vert ramp doesnt look much bigger than the Braun spine ramp at the world the other week!!!
-
That'd be right.... The Mansfield ramp was/is the portable Team Extreme ramp I believe. Been around for donkeys years. Whilst I've never ridden the thing, I would guess it ain't the biggest vert ramp in the world :)
-
great vid, I was there too, history in the making - and in Mansfield of all places.....bonkers

The bike was raffled off in early 90`s to raise money for kids charity, I remember the advert in RAD magazine with photo of the ramp and story of how the kid had been given the bike and had possibly passed away hence the raffle.
-
So it might come with a free poltergeist!
-
But haven't we established that it is a later model to that which Hoffman was riding?
-
Where any of you guys in the School playground on the Saturday night? I remember a great night riding session involving shopping trolleys............. :Great_Britain:
-
not sure if I rode that night, but had several sessions jumping out onto the grass from the playground / carpark attached????
-
Does anyone know who won this?
