Anyone suggest any good early 90's pedals for my Bully ?
-
if it's full on race, the sharkbites came out in 93
anything else, it's dx's all the way ;)
-
Cool and should I go 1pc or 3pc crank?

1pc would be cheaper
in the very early 90's they were what a lot of riders used
which bully you got?
-
earlier I was looking through a few GO magazines from 90, 91 and 92. I noticed that EVERYONE used DXs. The only person I spotted who wasnt was DMC who was using those mongoose pedals that were like DXs but rounder.
-
I'm still running them now 8)
-
back then dx's were cheap and plentyful iirc
still the greatest bmx pedal of all time
-
The strongest for sure. Mine are a bit crunchy these days, even with a bearing overhaul. Shame. :'(
-
This is the same as my Bully frame http://bmxmuseum.com/bikes/bully/1637/1
It says 1997 but was later proved to b 91/92
I like DX's its just finding some in good nick

GT DX's were available too and they weren't bad.
-
The other classic early 90 pedal is that massive Oddy one, Tripple trap I think. The one that webdog had on her current bike on sunday!
There were a few Bully ads in the GOs I was looking thro. One with the full line up of complete bullies, about 7 or so bikes. I could maybe scan them for ya but it wouldnt be for a few weeks cos Im not it my work for a while (the scanner is there).

i have a set of triple traps!!
i think they made that hotrod for a number of years
didn't that one have some wacky front canti brake pulling method?

True. Just a little weaker in the axles I think, but the cages were just as good. Victor and Clover DX were both around as well I think?

I was running those on my ELF race bike, great pedals if you have big feet but they hurt like hell on your shins :LolLolLolLol:
-
Yeah I did look at those Triple Traps but they do look pretty hefty.
I aquired the frame not really knowing what it was, the guy I got it from on ebay had put some completely wrong but nice OS bits on it which now belong on my Streatbeat.
So having had it sat in my front room for months I've decided to build it.
There were some GT DX's in the for sale but they've one... quite like Sharkbites, A black set would look nice. Would love some black DX's if I can find any.
Cheers for the help again guys, I can only apologise for how little I know.
-
If you find some DXs, you can always have Superbikedan powdercoat them for you. He did mine black and they're the b0llocks :daumenhoch:
-
DX in gold :daumenhoch:
or the GT DX copies...
-
I'd have black ones.
-
I used to run Oddysey Triple Traps with JP cages.....Awesome mid school race pedals. But for an all rounder you can't beat Shimano DX's. The GT DX pedals with the replacable pins are the only ones that come close to Shimano DX's.
-
So... next question... Who's got any Black DX's they wanna part with?... thought not :'(
-
I've got Sharkbites on my Midschool, they feel great under your feet but not very good on your shins!!
-
Don't forget the lovely Peregrine pedals, they came out in 93 and are beautiful:

Thats the GT pedals.
-
sharkbites are my pedal of choice for a rider, you just cant beat em for grip or comfort in my book, but then again ive never liked platforms except for the peregrines which are an awesome lookin pedal

snap! i have a huge Y shaped scar where i had 40+ stiches due to a Rat trap style pedal going down to the shin bone back in 82 :'(
now wear shin pads! :daumenhoch:

Odyssey Black Widows and GT Big Man pedals were my favourites
:) DINGO :)
