Prizing Seat Post Clamps Apart…….. to get it over the seat post tube ? :)
Any tips on how to prize apart or widen a seatpost clamp, without damaging it. I have a Hutch Donut in Chrome, so need to be gentle with it……! So, no hammer or screw-drivers !! LOL !! (I think I had the hammer/screwdriver discussion with S.B. Dan and Mr Stupps at Daggers recently)
Any tips then ? ;)

I used a screwdriver and cloth and kinda twisted / screwed it on , it was tight and it was a hutch duffnut
-
make a wooden wedge then tap down from underside .
use a piece of wood and slice it down to a bit of a point ie an old broom handle

buy another one the correct size? ::)

I had the same problem with a Hutch donut.
Pulling it apart didn't work, so I got my trusty Dremmel and a smalling sanding tube and worked around the inside a couple of times. Hey presto, fitted with no visible scars.

take the bolt right out, thread it in from the otherside (outside) place a thin peice of steel in the gap and as the bolt goes through it will push against the steel therefore pushing the clamp apart AND you can regulated the force used by how tight you screw in the bolt, works with clamp on stems too :daumenhoch:
:) DINGO :)
