Post by: Zippy on August 02, 2007, 01:47 PM
Right you can all now pop over to the Burnerworld Forum and have a look at the new retro Super Tuff Burner.
Personally I think it's lovely but that's just my opinion. ;D

The cost of Superchroming was too great and not just from a financial point of view either. Even in Tiwan and China they're stopping chroming things because of the toxic waste that it produces. Seems your not allowed to dump it in the rivers anymore.  :daumenhoch:

Besides when you actually see a proper picture of it it does look very nice indeed and quickly grows on you.

I'll leave it to the two Daves if they want to post the pictures on here as they have the exclusive rights to them. ;)

It's basically the Team Pro but in Super Tuff colours so it's a good bike to start with. Obviously corners have to be cust here and there with some of the spec but at £250 what do you expect.  :daumenhoch:

The frame and forks are very good and it's got Skyways on it so I'd say it was a corking little ride.

Just think in a few months time when you see all the young kids riding round on all these reintroduced burners. Bring it on.

i have to say im not impressed :-[
dont get me wrong im not one of these "burner bashers"
i wholly embrace the scene and honestly think the uk old school movement
would be nothing without the burner as most of us started of with them.
i even ordered the TAP07 as soon as i could because i thought it was a great
way to celebrate 25yrs :4_17_5: :4_17_5:
but that's where it should have ended im afraid.
i think they are now just trying to cash in on the nostalgia trend thats happening
at the moment >:(
i wouldnt be surprised if then end up rolling out the whole range all based on the
AP frame ::)
i do like the look of the new super tuff but i really dont see a point to it
sorry

if they send a whole range of burners out with AP frames, people could get them chromed and then put AP sticker kits on them and then say its from 82-84 and make loads of cash!!

Its all cool guys, its no problem posting it up on here. Raleigh gave us permission to post it on our humble little forum, and as someone said the more people that see it the better  :daumenhoch:

The same issues that people had with the 25th AP will obviously resurface...the chainring, seat and bars were the best match that could be found. We are attempting to make changes to the rake of the bars...not sure if it will be quick enough before these roll off the production line, but will hopefully be sorted before the bike that Beard and I are designing starts production  8)

The best thing is if people decide whether they like it for themselves...so after talking to Raleigh today, the prototype bike in the picture will be with us at MK this weekend  :4_17_5:

Cheers
Dave

I'm a big burner fan but well put. When I post up similiar on the other forums It's just seen as moaning.
The TAP07 was great idea as it was limited to 450 but bringing out this and prob others (wit the same frame!) has ruined the whole nostalgia trip for me.

You can't blame Raleigh for wanting to sell more bikes though can you??? At the end of the day, they are a business that have shareholders to satisfy.

They are not going to release the whole range again, see my earlier comment.  :daumenhoch:

Sonic,

You could always use the argument that the STB07 (assuming that is the moniker) is new school anyway. ;D

i understand what your saying dave, i run my own business and recognise the opertunity raliegh have taken, but i do belive that releasing more variants of the TAP has diluted the significance of the original concept, which i thought was fantastic.
and can you be sure they wont roll out these on mass eventually? they haven't exactly stuck to there word in the past ::)
and thats in no way meant as i dig at you, beard or simon  you are all to be commended:)
i know how corporate business works and if the suits decide its going to be then it will happen.
on a more positive note i do really like the STB07 i wish it had come out first :daumenhoch:

I think they are using the re-releases to raise awareness of BMX at a grass roots level. Let's not forget that BMX is going to feature in the Olympics next year and how many kids will be wanting a BMX on the back of that????. Of course it's about cash for them ultimately.
The limited run of the TAP25 was no different to the limited run of the Team Pro BITD. They still made oodles of chrome AP's then used the same frame to make 2 versions of the Pro Race, same frame, forks, bars, rims etc just different decals. The limited part of it was the paintjob and it's the same with this.

You only have to do the math, 450 x £250 doesn't come close to designing, testing, building a jig, paying the workers, shipping to the UK etc, even if it is made in China  ;)
