What make freewheel do the oldschool racers use and why?
-
Shimano or Suntour ideally but at the end of the day as long as it's chrome I don't care. :LolLolLolLol:
-
IMHO the suntour was a better freewheel :10_2_12:
-
Suntour.. Shimano used to give up too easy. I run a dicta one on my race bike at the mo, cheap and has outlasted a set of flites so seem to be good enough quality for racing :daumenhoch:
-
Not 100% but think mines a suntour at the moment????
Does have 16 teeth though :LolLolLolLol:
-
I use the lovely 'Diamond Back' ones in Halfords, thay are made by dikta and are the bollox!! Ultra smooth, quiet and blingy :coolsmiley:
-
halford db ones dude, ive had no probs with any of mine and they on nearly all my bikes, acs claw if you can put up with the click, shimanos are a no no, the trick is keeping the chain on which ever you choose :LolLolLolLol:
-
Suntour...They seem to last forever...I'm riding the original one on my cruiser, from 1982!!

i need 2 cheap freewheels, looks like i'm heading for Halfords at lunchtime then....
don't the Dicta one's 'click, click, click' though ??
-
the click click is good
means it will be tough!
-
another freewheel thing to watch out for - never NEVER EVER spray wd40 into a freewheel
it will destroy very quickly
if you have an old one, try it and see what i mean

i know they all click, but some are louder than others.....(Like an old Budgie! LOL) ! I have sensitive ears you know !
-
