So we all want skinwalls YES?
I have it on good authority that Wilko's are stopping the amberwall comp III's and the only other place i know of is 'Dans comp' for the Kenda version, wich are really nice as i have them on me race bike, but i am sure you will agree that the ultimate would be if Tioga started making them again in the nice skinwall version (not amberwall) it wouldnt be to much hassle would it?
Do you think we could as a group perhaps ask them to get on the retro wagon and perhaps do a special edition series re-release?
Perhaps we could construct a sensible beggin letter advising them of the OS/retro scene and the bikes that have been re-released.
Your thoughts please.
Skin lover :)

I thought they already had? i'm sure i've seen them for sale on one of the well know web sites? could be wrong though ???
-
Nothing on the Tioga website mate, it might have been the Kenda ones unless Tioga have just bought them out and not updated the website.
-
no these ones were deffo Tioga.....but they had sold out :'( could've been Wiggle? i can't remember now.....although logic tells me that if they had brought them out....then places like Alans would be knocking them out!
lets get a letter drawn up! :daumenhoch:
-
yep, fat n skinny one's !!
-
Harris might know something about this, ask him
-
I believe they still make the newer ones (like on my Flash) and they are still for sale in the US.
-
What? Thay still make a skinwall? Any ideas who was stockin them Stodgy :)
-
they still make black wall comp 3 as have some here that i try to flog at mk and no one was interested
-
Maybe a joint letter from us, vintagebmx, roost, os-bmx etc would be a better idea.
-
bet they still make them
only no one imports them
its the import thats the problem
-
no one wants to supply the rotten toothed eurofags :(
-
a guy i buy bits from a deals with tioga told me ages ago that tioga were going to do skin comp3's ??? would be a good money maker for tioga ;) and good for us :4_17_5:
-
i read somewhere that SE racing are doing skinwall "comp III" copies too :daumenhoch:
in "20 and "24 sizes too,

My point exactly Rich...I bought 4 pairs of skinwalls off the shelf in Vegas last year...
-
coloured ones would be good too! :daumenhoch:
-
how about just seeing what the min order quantity is if they make them still, surely we can raise enough interest to at least meet the US distributors min order level if not the manufacturers (I buy skate stuff direct from the US distributors, we aren't talking mega-bucks here...)

They have TIOGA in big white letters round the side...would you want this on an old school ride?

having just wiped out a set of OG yellow comp III's that had a sidewall failure then the short answer would be yes. Not for show bikes like but ideal for riders.......

Fair point, well made.

I've a set of the skinwall CompIII's with the Tioga written in white along the side. They were on my Cali' build.
I'm now putting them onto my Proline build. I think they look ok, and are all i am wanting to go onto a rider :) G.

Wasn't harsh mate, I just hadn't thought of that.
They are ideal for old school riding and as light as fook...a fine tyre. My mind-set is bedroom bikes at the moment as I can't ride...I tend to forget the reason these damn kids bikes exisist sometimes.
:idiot2:
-
those complll's would look cool on a mid school racer, whats the prices like on new tiogas?
-
i bet shiner still has some as they never get rid of all there stock
-
i saw a bike part catalouge a while back and lots of stuff seems to still be made ,levers , seats stems ,the only issue is that to import them you would need to order a shed load , ie 1000 or 5000 minimum order
then you need to find a shipper , import licenced carrier , it needs to be a major import thing going on
its an idea , but not one i would want to do as it would cost someone a load of cash , and who would want 5000 of 1 thing ?
first step is getting hold of a catalouge of parts that currently are sold to russia for kids bikes ( like a set of brakes or pedals) and then you can decide if looking to import stuff is a good idea
Rich

the shipper I use handles all of the customs clearance side of things and te vat man etc I just pays me $ and takes me goods , i will enquire of my skateboard supplier if he knows of anyone that does a similar wholesale/distro ting in the wee kids bike world :)
-
I'd deffo buy some :daumenhoch:
-
I'm off to the US in 2 weeks, shall I see if I can get some? Any particular type or size required? I'll see if Lastic bloke will let me buy a dozen or something if not too heavy :)

20 x 1.75 and 20 x 2.125 would be popular am guessing, if you are serious Lou it may be easier to post em back/get the bike shop to ship em to you(if they will do the right thing on the customs declaration  ) save you the hassle of carrying etc
-
Ok. If I can find a bike shop and they'll post back to the UK, who would like a set?
Let me know what colour, size (20 or 24inch) and width (2.125, 1.75) and I'll see what I can do. I'm going to San Francisco, Chicago and Fort Lauderdale, there must be a bike shop in one of those places :)

If it really is no hassle then would love a 20 x 1.75, 20 x 2.125, 24 x 1.75 and 24 x 2.125 in black/skinwall or black/gumwall. If you want to guestimate the price I would happily send you the dollar up front so your not out of pocket ;)

Don't want any monies as can't 100% promise I'll be able to sort something. If I manage to get some, then pay me after :)
We're taking a laptop with us so I'll be able to log in to Rad whilst I'm over there and let people know if I find some.

40 quid is quite alot IMO, they are not orig Tioga's (although Cheng Shin apparently do make the Tioga/Mitsu tyres anyway ! LOL!!)
If we could order, say ten pair and divide the postage it could be a solution.......

Look a bit like a gum wall to me? Cant quite tell from the pic though.
