Stripped the frame on an 06 sport yesterday, if anyone is thinking of what i was thinking of doing dont bother as its so scratched underneath the paint. (I guess so the paint has a good surface to key to)
Oh well, plan B....

That's a bummer, do you think it won't polish it up at all? Are they deep scratches or just surface ones?
-
Try the old autosol and 4 hours of polishing Del :daumenhoch:

i tried that by hand last night in a small area and it didnt make a difference. I'll try my polishing mop attachment later and see what happens but I'm not holding my breath.

Be careful though as you might end up polishing through the chrome ;)

Paint it white :daumenhoch:
-
well a new tube of Autosol and 3 hours with the polishing mop and I'm slightly more happier... still some slight surface scratches but nothing like as bad as it was, its not going to be a show pony anyway, so it'll do, although if I can't get a set of chrome forks for it then it'll be powdered white as it'll be cheaper than getting the orginal forks chrome plated.
Anyway here it is stickered up.. not quite a Sport colour scheme (more like a FST but I like the colours)

looks good del
and try and polish the forks they would come up okish then clear coat em
-
the forks are properly painted (no chrome underneath), I'd rather just try and find some chrome forks rather that get them plated etc
-
Looks good :daumenhoch:
I'd like to see one of those redone in black/white/chrome, like the '87 frameset 8)
-
Yeah I do like that, Del. :daumenhoch:
HRD

looking good mate :daumenhoch:
-
Looks real good. Shouldn't be to hard to find forks in chrome for it.
-
I got hold of some chrome forks (sadly not with AD lugs but for £10 at Billys I'm not complaining!) and rebuilt the bike how I think it should have been built, I must admit my initial plan was to do it white but quite glad I decided to leave the chrome on.
I'm going to change the bars when I go pick them up from the parcel force depot over the weekend.

Some idiot made them for me... yep another one down :)

Del, that's come up very nice indeed :daumenhoch:
Getting the forks chromed wouldn't cost that much, I paid £15 for my GT24 forks to be chromed; they came up very nice :daumenhoch:

looking good. i see your line of thinking .
i would have made the same changes, but i reckon it would benefit from a change of seat and stem.
have you seen the haro fusion stems? 1 1/8 and they look more like an oldy......
just my opinion....it looks rad!

not the best pic but....
-
Marty - that's a good price for some forks to be chromed... The place I know wanted more than twice that.
Fruity - Yep there's a few things I'd like to change on it but its not a priority really, I only bought it as it was cheap and it makes a good bike to nip to the local post offce to post my decals off ;)
-
yeah looking sweet Del, like em with tuffs :daumenhoch:

Place in Hayes End, Middlesex. They do a good job, just got some twin pinch flights back from them too and they look spangly :daumenhoch: Their address is in the Chrome Platers thread but they won't do frames which is a shame; apparently the diodes and stuff are a pain in the rear to setup :(.
