Just looks like another fashion trend to me. No way would i attempt modern riding with Tuff wheels on my bike! I saw/had them snap so easily in the early 90's!
They look fantastic on OS bikes but IMO have no place on today's bikes.
-
Whats the point of that? Or am i missing the point? :( Either have 2 or none.
-
yeah i rode my fbm with one on the front
as bent me old one and it rode wierd and flexed like crap lol
-
its a trend like big pants hanging out of your jeans lol thats all i saw at rom yesterday
if you slotted one into a few pro riders frames more would go that way but not good imo
that one above looks cool thou.

More than a slight flava of a DBI ta, for sure!
-
;)
-
Must admit i did ride for a few months BITD with a tuff on the front and a UKAI on the rear.
I am pretty sure i saw Hoffman riding a single tuff a couple of years back too 8)
-
This took my fancy....

I keep coming back to this and i think its growing on me :-X Suppose if you could buy a single graphite it would be worth it.
-
They never went away.

Now that I like! :smitten:

tuffs look cool, but most of us (alex is the exception here, because im sure he has the peter pan gene) are weighing slightly more than we did in the 80's, and tuffs aint gonna last long with a fat fook like me on em.
but the do look good
plus if you buckle em you can stick em in the freezer.
it wont straighten em, but it pisses the wife off so well worth it
Dave
-
tuffs are ok for just riding around on but for serious riding it's like riding on jellytots :2funny:
but tuffs do look the biz :smitten:
can't wait for the ruler's reply to this topic :LolLolLolLol:

I've got the new Graphite Tuffs on my OS race bike (SE Assassin).
I didn't notice the wheels flexing at the Brits last weekend, but I could feel the forks, stem and bars flexing on the gate.

I wish.
But when I had the wheel up against the gate and stood on the pedals waiting for the gate to drop, I could feel the flex in the front end you don't feel on a new school bike.
-
was it a build up of nervous power awaiting blast off ;)
-
i had noticed that the new graphite one's they sell have a flip flop hub !!
-
i think i have a new set of the gold campy style hub covers for them.somewhere
-
Was it new graphs that Billstup was using at MK07? Cos his wheels were flexin all over the place, esp when he was leaning on the start gate.

They sort of have a flip flop, but when I came to fit my ACS freewheel, it would only fit on one side (the other side seemed too small).

i agree with you. mostly ;)
tuffs don't suit new bikes imo
but if some people want to berdoing about with one on the front then best of luck and keep a spare alloy wheel handy.
-
berdoing... :LolLolLolLol: :LolLolLolLol: :LolLolLolLol: :LolLolLolLol: :LolLolLolLol:

mike (dialled bikes) think the smaller thread is for 14t type screw on freewheels - is the larger thread for 16t and up???
by the way, love my prince albert you sent me last year!!!!!! awesome frame thank you.
-
i reckon tuffs on a new skool bike look rad!!, but its gay that they flex so much...

Snap, been running mine that way since the beginning of last year. (Graphites/Assassin that is)
-
i think it looks cool in the pics, maybe the kids can do some new footjam tricks with them, more chance to show off their batman, spiderman or superman print pants ;D we need radbmx cincity pants!
its a shame tuff wheels are so cack, cant they make them out of carbon fibre etc, i never understood why they use graphite, as its a brittle substance!
-
Carbon fibre has quite a lot of flex in it, so it wouldn't be any better.
-
they should make them out of alloy, with loads more spokes.

mmmm. nice

Tuffs always have done and always will look cool, more so on a OS bikes but they can still look cool on NS I think. However, they're no good for modern riding, I broke some bitd when I weighed about as much as some very large control pants. I'm by no means fat now but at 13.5 stone I'm still considerably heavier than I was then so I wouldn't want to risk it.
It's probably a fashion thing as the 80's is all the rage, so I hear, with the yoof of today. I just hope they don't start wearing black leggings, a Ra Ra skirt and white shoes!
I suppose though I'm happy to see a bit of colour coming back on to the NS bikes now as the whole black thing just didn't do it for me!
Yep, I'm an old fart I know!
Daz.
-
if the 80's are all the rage, then maybe people will start running brake guards, eddies handles and wheel covers.
-
Saw none at Redditch yesterday- maybe because I was the only person on an OS bike....
I personally hate them with a passion to ride on /use- but admit they look way cool.
Skyways for show... Spokes for a pro.....
