Hi All,
Im gonna build up my first bike soon and i want it as something i can
scoot about on and maybe do the odd oldskool race on.
(if i ever get off my lazy arse that is :LolLolLolLol:)
I was thinking about getting the Haro Group One RS2 Frame & Fork.
Would that be eligible for oldskool races ?
Also what kind of bits are ok for everyday use.
Are things such as flight cranks, ukai rims more for the show bikes
or will they be ok for the use above ?
Any advice would be much appreciated :)

As long as it fits into the 'Old school' time frame you can race it as such dude. As for parts, era correct + what your wallet can handle
-
alot of people use modern redline cranks
twin pinch flites or pro lines
but generally the more old school parts the better ! :daumenhoch:
-
I built this robbo up for about £110 , and it rides great, ive added better bits as ive gone along, as long as its got a 1inch head tube and a caliper brake its race worthy , :daumenhoch: good luck

I have a RS1 as my old school ride/racer

very nice to ride with long enough top tube :daumenhoch:
-
Thanks for replys :)
I like that Robinson Zed always loved those as a kid :daumenhoch:
The top tube length is what made me think about the haro as a rider
and also the price is'nt bad £75 on Alans (if they are still in stock).
As a matter of interest what parts do you have on the bike JT ?
-
cheers mate, these robbo's are great to ride and race on, ill be having another go at the bournemouth regionals on sunday :daumenhoch:
-
ukai rims with sealed suzue hubs
new skool super cross bars
new skool redline cranks
scaby uni seat
nos 901 brake
nos suntour power stem
ame grips
haro fusion pedals
-
if its gonna be ridden hard, it should be built to be up for the job i reckon, new twin pinch flights (if budget will stretch) dyno intercepter stem (skatepool£25, strong as fook) oddy sharkbites or generic platform pedals, as these things are gonna get used hard. other than that just what looks good to you n feels good.
ps, my builds are shite and im racing a freestyler at the mo so WTF do i know :LolLolLolLol:
-
yeah i use new wheels new redline cranks, ive even fitted a newer type lever as old ones brake easy and new ones work better ;)
-
iv built a haro grp 1 rs 1 its well light n very nice to ride , get yer self the rs2 its race legal as no canti mounts
mine cost about £220 all in to build still got parts i want for it just got to wait till they come up at right price
-
Had a nose round (mainly Alans & Vert Ego)
and got some prices on a the bits needed.
Comes out to around £530 without cranks.
I dunno what i've done wrong here but thats
a wee bit more than Sonic-1's build

a different matter !

i built mine from bits on here n a few lucky finds at an old bike shop
i dont use ebay been ripped tomany times but with the for sale section here who needs ebay as most members are willing to do yer a top deal as its like one happy family where yer make only a small amount to do another member a favour not like ebay where yer want as much as possible

also the local tip is a good source , my mate had an e.t. from his local tip.
