I'm a man of few words. ;)
-
some were good
most were generic
the good ones were the choggers and the mohammed (sp)
the others were as good as any other diamond back / redline / mongoose of the day
the TX and LX were about the cheapest / nastiest
although i rode with people in the 90's who ripped on them (until the forks snapped)

Im a bit younger than you lot, and actually bought one of these as my first "proper" bmx, (98 chogger)
Before that id been riding dirt cheap OS reminiscent early 90's bikes.
I bought it because at the time I thought strength was no.1 and my budget was limited. I couldnt get on with it at the time 99ish and missed my old much lighter bike.
- saying that , it was MUCH lighter than all my friend bikes at the time, - general lee, hoffmans, a friends flatland bike, a haro, Cheap late 90's bikes.
It was lighter than all and really beefy 100% cromo, it was just as well made as any other big name bikes of the time only missing details like machined headtube/BB.
Ieventually got used to heavier "proper" bmx's and came to love the geomtery.
- So much so, I sold my s&m to revamp it and have gone back to riding it again now.
Heres a pick of my frame in my pile of bikes:

Heres it built up with custom coloured parts, main upgrade the demolition cranks. - I had the wheels on for a laugh! its got chrome supra -E/homer bubs now and a few minor things.:

These are really underated bikes, the geometry is great and the weight is good too.
But as with all the complete bike companies (gt, haro, mongoose, dk, diamond back etc) the quality has really dropped over the past few years and they are all making really ugly boring bikes.
The upper range ruptions upto about 2002 are all pretty decent.
