Would you class my S+M Chris Bennet as mid or is it just not damn old enough?
I will put pics up if it is mid but dont want to say "hey look at my bike" if its not!
Pictures on hold........

i'd say it creeps in there! if its an early one.
the bennet frame kicked of around 98 ish i think. s&m alex will know for definate. but it certainly isn't a new school job thats wafer thin to keep weight down, really low top tube for whips and a maximum chainring of about 33, so i'd entertain it! used to come in a nice beige if i remember right.
-
i concur,
mid in nature but entering via the back door,
bring forth the photographs post haste!
besides,
bennet fooking rocks!
-
Id say it is Mid. I try to stick to the 1" S&Ms cos they were the "early years" but the bennet wasnt light weight so it werent NS. Mid is bound to cover A-head as that was smack in the middle of the 90s. Mid has gotta spill into the 2000s a little.
I had a bennet for a while and I really didnt like it. It was that frame (and the Next Gen Dirtbike I had before it) that started me think about the weight of my bike as it was so heavy. I also didnt like the chain stays being below the rear axle and I hated that droopey withbone. I had a PBR after that and that wasnt much better. After those 3 beasts I went back to riding my Challenger, intill the LAF came along and answered everything! I think I got mine in 2000ish but they had been out a while. I dont know when they came out tho.

-
:LolLolLolLol: i just binned 2 off mine as i couldnt stand the flack over the last year :-[
-
Dont diss the UFO!!!!! I have got a blue one at work as a key fob :daumenhoch:
The stem was from my standard sta before the s+m and the rest has just kind of evolved. It wasnt built as a mid bike it is just what has happened. If it aint broke dont fix it. Or as my mate says "if it aint broke fix it till it is!"
-
I've got an S&M stem on a Standard, didn't realise there was a stigma attached!
-
wow there Laz. Next thing you are going to say you have a profile chainring on primo cranks! That will push DSD over the edge! :2funny:
I am a bit of a sucker for having everything S&M but I think it shows more thought if you use a frame from one company but like a stem or forks from another. In the mid 90s I saw a girl cycle past who had an early A-head dirtbike and standard stem. I imagined that she had put loads of thought into the stem, and the fact that she wanted a bit more rise that a redneck gave, and as a result, I was madly in love with her. When I eventualy got to know her it turned out that the shop she got the bike from didnt have any other A-head stems so she had to get the standard one! (I was still madly in love with her for ages! ha ha)

mixing parts  no i wouldnt even concider that ;)

i've used a standard frame with some generation of redneck for the last 7 years. best combo i've found!
unfortunately if you don't dis the ufo, theres not really a lot else that can be said about them. harris, congratulations on binning said item :daumenhoch:

I like the style of that, very chunky but effective :daumenhoch:
