and are they right for a mid school build.
id like peregrines, but i cant see meself finding 150 quid in the near future, :'(
-
97,98?
-
hmm, thats a bit late really.
thanks laz.
-
What are you building? Or is it a secret?
-
I have a mate who might still have a set of wheels with son of a bomb hubs in them. I remember him building them up in the front room of the house that we moved into in about 98 so Laz is spot on.
-
im looking for somthing for the bully....ive got skyways on it at the moment, but other than pergrines, im clueless as to what was around at the time.
-
suzue 48's in high flange was just about the only good hub out then.
-
Shiners have Super Pro hubs for £50 you can use them with Peregrine, 7X, Sun or Ukai rims.
Around 92 I was using Peregrine (I think Semi Pro) hubs on Araya Aero rims.
That's the beauty of mid school though, you just used what you could find!
-
harder to do in retrospect though.........lol...because what i can find is some skyways, some s.o.b's or a a pair of generic 48's off my massive pile of shitty wheels that i seem to have accumulated...
-
The wheels you REALLY want are ACS RL edge 48s. Unfortunatly they are very hard to find.
I was looking at an old peregrine advert in a magazine. From what I could tell, RL stopped using ACS wheels and moved to Peregrine. The add said "Peregrine 48s. RLs New Edge". Very funny
-
heh heh.
i think i may have to fork out for the peregrines, and a set of super 7's, i kow alans has them in stock...thing is, the rest of the bike is scratched to fook, and i was hoping to get somthing used, to keep with the look of the bike.
just been looking on the old bay but all thats available are a set of 48 joytechs, and a haro fusion wheelset. oh and some nice seventies, but they are a bit late too, and plus theyre 150 dabs.
i did have a set of sovos wheels, but i chucked them in one of my clear out phases cos they were buckled. hubs would have been handy though.
the search goes on....
what did you run on yours alex?

what did you run on yours alex?
I had RL edge rims and hubs with an on/off free coster hub (that was crap). Then I upgraded to super pros.
-
Fruit, get stuck into big Dan Harris for a set of semi or superPros. He must have summat he's prepared to sell to you. Maybe...... ;D
-
i'd put the S.O.B hubs in the late mid school :daumenhoch:
just about to buy a a pair for my next build!
-
probably the best hub i ever saw in mid school and i'm sure laz will back me up were the mk1 g sport hubs. they'd be really hard to find them though but straight out of 1995! also gt mohawks from 96 were smooth. small ridge in the middle od the hub made them look a bit different. seventies hubs were good for the price and i'm pretty sure my mate still has them at his shop. last week dai leisure still have a set of haro hubs from the late 90's that they'll take a deal on. then of course theres the hoffman gack hubs from about 96
-
ive got the s.o.b's and would use those but the bike is 1990, so most of those options are a bit late really.
its just on the cusp, of the mid /old border.
fook it ill get a set of acorn magnums.
