ok ive been think about buildin up one of my nos frame sets again, a lil while back i built the "ghp pro" up..but in split over this one .. i have a true nos black jmc shadow with warranty card still on it ive had it from pretty much day one , always been reluctant from buildin nos stuff up .. whats ya thought guys
-
leave it alone son :)
-
yeah but it keeps callin me ...
-
STEP AWAY FROM THAT FRAME!!!!! unless you got some nice Oakley F1's to go with it! ;)
-
leave it or sell it dont build it :tickedoff:
-
you can get rubber washers, n you could sleeve most of the bits ya bolt on but the headset n bottom bracket are gonna be a bitch to put in unless you grind em down n use tape wrapped round so you still get a snug fit n not mark the frame. id build n ride the knackers out of it :daumenhoch:
-
Sell it and let someone else decide :daumenhoch: like me :)
-
It may be an object of beauty on its own but it'll never be done justice unless it's built up. Just don't stick one piecers, V-bars or Acorns on it. ;D
Actually an all-Landar Black Shadow would be quite something.
-
leave it alone, if you want a shadow go get one, will keep your interst in the hobby alive
-
for the past 3 years we`ve been tryin to kick this habbit together .. now ur tellin me to keep it alive ..wtf !! :LolLolLolLol:
-
Build it with really shit parts, use a mk2 burner as a donor, that's never been done before. Be a pioneer :daumenhoch:
-
for the past 3 years we`ve been tryin to kick this habbit together .. now ur tellin me to keep it alive ..wtf !! :LolLolLolLol:

Do it :daumenhoch:............. Nah Don't do it :-\.............. Do it :daumenhoch: Ummmmmmmm nah don't !
I reckon if it was to be done it would be done by now !
Leave it Lee untill your done with this costly nonsense of building bikes ! Make it your last ever build - you'll propably be 100 by then :2funny:

I concur - leave the NOS one and get a used one to play with :daumenhoch:
-
lee - that frameset is the donkeys bolox mate, take it out of that loft and hang it on the wall and look at it ! everyday !!! :D
even better hang on the back of the toilet door, so you have something to look at when your passing last nights vindaloo !!
>:D
-
Built it, ride it and trash it!
-
needs building....am on with black shadow at the minute...going a bit pff piste with mine, as its a resto, but there aint too many about...a nos one built with all the right shit will look mint amongst your other stuff....
shadows are the bollocks.
-
Rock and a hard place, lovely looking frameset that's almost too good to be spoilt but then again it was made to be built into a bike. If you like the idea of a virgin frameset then leave it as is and get another one to restore into a full bike :daumenhoch:
-
build it soft lad, what else you gonna do with it ?? look at it for another 4 years.
shadows make a good rider, i used to throw my chrome one around at bones did it no harm
-
Get a nice display case/frame built around it and hang it on the wall with some nice lighting, Then go in the loft and strip all your bikes down to component parts and have a play rebuilding with different parts/colours ,you have enough stuff in your house to keep any sane minded old schooler happy for an eternity without fookin with the Black Shadow :police:
:) DINGO :)
-
i no why don't you build one and then for a change race it in the oss winter series 07. go on treat ya self. :LolLolLolLol:
-
COOL :daumenhoch:
-
It was designed to be ridden, and it can't be ridden if it's not built. If you're not going to build it then sell it to someone who will.
-
:LolLolLolLol: .. i dont wanna sell it , i just asked ur thoughts in general on weather or not u guys would build one ..
-
i would defo build one :daumenhoch: nice and fresh with no stress on it anywhere unlike me :LolLolLolLol:
-
i would build it, framesets and parts are made to be used on bikes
-
you gotta build it, thats what it was meant for :daumenhoch:
-
Usually I'd go with the build it and ride it vote...But,that's a unique and rare work of art in some circles..It's also in a state that is quite special too.If you don't need to sell or ride it,keep it safe as is,it's a real nice thing to have.As Pete said get another if you feel a need to build one....If it's too tempting while it's in the house, pass it on... ;)
-
Lee
Personally I would leave it alone, I say this because I've had the same choice with the Redline 600b.
I built it up and wasn't happy with the result so I sold it.
It would have been better for me to leave it in its box and put it in the loft for another 10 years, then once Id completely forgotton about it I would have had the best surprise finding it again!

Leave alone , hang it up ;)
-
Build it and abuse it!!!!! >:D
-
You have got to do one of two things:
either build it up and do it justice
or
Display it somehow
leaving it gathering dust is just shite, its too nice

-
build it , and ride it ;) or maybe get someone who aint as fat as you to ride ;) so as not to bust it
-
The main thing I respect about my British BMX cousins is that most of you guys actually ride and even (heaven forbid) race the old school stuff. My opinion is that a BMX frame is just a decoration, a built bike is art (even more so, if it gets ridden)
(Then again, I been riding little kids BMX bikes for almost 35 years so my mind might be going)
-

Build to ride or build up as a show bike/to look at?
-
well i got a nos grp 1 couldnt resist buildin it now im racing it :10_2_12: will be gutted when i break it but oh well its worth it
-
Lee DONT SELL IT!!
Give it to me, and I will build it, and ride it!
You all know I don't believe in having a bike you're not gonna ride so let me have it and I'll do the bizzo.
-
ive had and built my 88 and 85 nos masters and rode em
the 88 even got 4 foot of air at epic by the nunnie a few years back
-
I got a NOS TA and built it up with NOS parts apart from the wheels. I put white alloy hubbed Skyway wheels on it. The wheels are slightly going yellow now and i feel like taking them off for a bleach. I dont wanna fook the drop outs though by taking the wheel out and re-tightinging after the bleaching.
Decision... decisions.
A NOS frameset is there to be built i reckon but only built with NOS parts.
I hate mis-mash bikes built with NOS and refurbed parts.
-
How many other unbuilt NOS shadows are left in the world, less than 5 maybe'this means to me its too rare to be built, even though we all know you would do it justice, but as soon as you build this JMC up some of the magic would have been lost IMO.
:daumenhoch:
-
yeah .. looking at it i dont really need to build it up and take away its virginity , its not like i need to build it up and i havent got any jmc`s .. it was just on that day i thought id ask the question to u guys .... lee
-

oooooh you big tease you !!!! ;D
-
Looks like you've come to the right decision Lee. I would certainly leave it as NOS, for a few reasons:
1) You have a number of other JMCs - it's not as though it's your only one.
2) Have you ever seen another NOS JMC?? No, Quads, Rippers, TA's all turn up NOS...never JMC's. It's unique and I'd protect it.
3) It's nice to have a selection of 'parts' as well as complete bikes (think of that guys 'bike store' in his garage in the US).
4) It would look awesome in a case on the wall of your study.
5) Think of the value you'd knock off it, if you built it.
6) Fat Pete might sit on it if you built it! That would fook it up.
Think that's it for now. But you've definately made the right choice.
:daumenhoch:
-
if you build it, the NOS is gone. simple. Why spoil a rare NOS treat with bits. better just give it to charity. like ' Joint Operations Help Newcastle ' or just the acronym thereof ::)
