I just took delivery of this frame and forks. I bought it as a Robinson Pro XL. It wasn't till I unpacked it that I realised it was actually an Amtrac frame. As far as I'm aware this is the only one in the UK. It needs a good buff but there's nothing wrong with the chrome so it should come up lovely. The only downside is that it has a few dings in it and a slightly crushed brake bridge. Other than that though it should come up a treat.

He did before he sold it to a bloke in the States for an obscene amount of money. I know this because I almost bought it but couldn't quite afford what he was asking. ;D

If the wife takes to racing then she'll be having my Yellow Robbo. Yours is a really nice colour though.
-
Thats a really nice frame....keep it a build a racer :daumenhoch:
-
It's got a 21.5" top tube so would be ideal for a taller rider who wants to ride old school.
I'm off to give it a clean.
-
I'm 6ft 1" :coolsmiley:
-
It would be the ideal size for you then. I find the Pro XL's suit my bit taller than Spen size a bit better.
-
Bike Pro in B'ham had a chrome one for a while, from what I can remember the wheelbase was also v long. Deffo one for tall guys :)
-
I was thinking San had one, so where is he nowadays anyway???
-
Whats the difference between an amtrack and the robo's still available from anals. :)
-
anals
;D
-
Sorry typo. ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

About 2"... from what I can work out... and the drop outs are welded stronger..
-
2 inches for a start, or is it 2.5?
-
The Robinson Pro has a 19.5" top tube. The Pro XL has a 20.5" top tube and the Amtrac has a 21.5" top tube. The Pro XL's and the Amtracs have an added brace welded between the rear chainstays becasue of the longer wheelbase. Also the Amtrac has the rear chainstays and seatstays welded up far neater and have caps covering the open ended tubing. The tubing on the Pro XL's and Amtracs are bigger as well.
Anyway this particular Amtrac has now been sold after recieving a very good offer. ;)

-
Nice Zip but did some gorilla used to own it?! Squashed that brake stay more than on my bikes! ::)
-
great buy mate, the best frames around ;) i love my robbo, even though mine has a shorter tt, im sure that will clean up a treat, :4_17_5:
-
i rode sandro's amtrak a few times, and you are right joe, it would be my only choice if i was ever going to compete with any degree of commitment. they are a lovely frame to ride.
-
If your in the 6ft and above range then this is the best you could buy.
-
The Amtrak frame was a kinda signature frame for 6 foot 2 inch Charles Townsend , a seriously powerful dude
Pictured here ( on left ) at the 1986 World Championship at Slough in his Hutch days , on the right is Dave ( The Culligan Man ) Cullinan .

Charlie was still racing on an Avent in Vet Pro as recent as 2005 .
