Title: Sealed v Non Sealed Hubs ? The difference ? Visual Difference that is !
Post by: brass monkey! on September 12, 2007, 08:53 AM
Is there an easy way to identify a sealed hub from a non sealed on ? ie: Without taking the centre cap off ? I have various Araya/Ukai spoked wheels, some say 'Sealed' on the hub, but they look the same as another pair that were sold to me as un-sealed?

I first thought that sealed ons have a black plastic centre inside the silver cap? but I also have a sealed pair without this ?

hmmmmmmmmmmmmm - sorry to ask a stupid question  :-[.....but I need to know !

unsealed that is you can see the silver cap that holds the loose bearings in, if they were sealed then you would see
the actual sealed bearing it self which most looks like a black rubber ring inside a metal casing
