Title: Scorpion TX Restoration
Post by: MartyC on September 22, 2007, 10:59 PM
Some of you might remember this being posted before but it got lost thanks to the infamous Rad Rollback  :D.

Picked up this from SuperBikeDan today; he's done a fantastic job on the restoration of this making a near 30yo F&F and Bars look like new again ....

Before decals....

After decals....

Now I've got to put all this together after giving my Tuffs another clean from being in garage too long, a replica of my first bike from 1979/80....

Going to be busy this week  :D

BTW, this is how it looked last year when I got it from the USA...

Marty, that is going to be gorgeous, I had a Scorpion TX when I lived in the US.   I can't wait to see it finished.

Mattdub, thanks for posting those pictures from BMX Plus, it takes me back to 1981 when I was a little 'un and summers were always sunny.  :daumenhoch:

Looking good marty, tell me how did you clean the tuffs or did you re-dye?

Lots of fine gauge wire wool, wet and dry and plenty of elbow grease followed by re-dying which didn't really take too well the first time.  I'm going to give them the CIF treatment with wire wool and then another re-dye at the weekend  :daumenhoch:.

John

Missed your post  :LolLolLolLol:

The decals went on like a dream using the soapy water trick although the forks ones took a bit of work to get on but I think you'll agree the decals look superb, top job and thanks  :4_17_5:.

Dan has done a super job of matching the paint to the original finish on the forks; unfortunately the camera flash makes it look like a plain red but it's a really nice deep red just like the original  :daumenhoch:

marty  the camera flash,   never works well on a bike frame

the best way to take a pic of a bike or frame is  out doors no flash

or indoors  bright room no flash ;)
