i personally think this is as cool as it is heavy, i fookin love these and desperatally wanted one since i saw one in the flesh about a year ago (thanks dan dare :daumenhoch:) i know they aint well thought of and the bars will put even more off but fook yez all!!!!!!!!! ;D its a work of fookin art. was gonna go black peregrine seat n grips to match wheels, stem, pedals n seat clamp but the white elina won it (built for comfort not for speed)
no punches pulled please, coz i just don't care :smitten:

its a marmite bike..
-
all my bikes are marmite bikes :LolLolLolLol:
any suggestions for a shit hot rear brake?
-
Thats one of the great things about getting "mid school" bikes. You get a bike you like, and it can be real cheap.
YOu might have to pay £100 for a NOS sticker set for it .... but at least the frame was cheap!
-
Daz that bike is fookin' gorgeous :4_17_5:
Never had a Mid school myself
but the more I see of 'em ???
It's the bollox, mate :daumenhoch:
-
cheers dudes, the decs are really good the top tube one has a scrape but its gonna get plenty more im sure, adds to the charm ;)
-
Never seen one of them before, some quirky touches, but I do like the look of it, I'd be happy to own one :daumenhoch:.
Looks a long frameset.....how much did it cost OD and are they rare or something ::)
Paul :)
-
oooooo like that lots !!!!! the crank arms look well long
-
That is supercool!
I love the WAL Riot (although I prefer the earlier sticker sets though!)
I reckon that they are going to be worth seriuos money one day as they are already a rarity!
You need a set of WAL/2Hip bars on it now to finish it off!
Oh look theres some for sale here!

:LolLolLolLol: i was lookin at them there bars when you first posted them. but i wanted chrome ones. also im a soft oldschooler at heart so the extra rise is essential for my riding enjoyment.
aye up stylie, i got the frame for a bargain in my eyes (mates rates) ive seen a few not sell then disappear. i reckon about a ton for a good f/f, but they never come up.
cranks are 180's but the bottom bracket seems really low, and yeah the frame looks long coz of the angle of the toptube and ive got a zipback post on it, but its still a wopping 20" centre to centre so i suppose that is long for a freestyler.
dan dare has a loverly one too that he rides all the time, i'll try n get pics of them together, WAL 2 WAL as it were
-
the wal is about number 14 on my will get frame sets
when i have room
-
a taste for marmite have ya :daumenhoch:
good lad ;)
-
I like that a lot. A whole LOT.
This is my old one which I sold most of the bits off when in need of cash a few years back. :tickedoff:

I even tried to contact the american guy i sold it to on ebay a while after the deal (he was gathering up a few of them at the time) but he had since sold it on... :(
I don't regret many sales of BMX stuff cos it regularly ends up being cherished by the new owner, but this is one of them...

Awesome, Ron's da man!
I had one of these in 92 (i think) got a black one, didnt like the black so had it plated in the end. Then worked out it was too long for a bit taller than Spen like me and swapped it for a Hutch Trickstar in chrome. :smitten:
Sean. :daumenhoch:

:LolLolLolLol:
i had to struggle to keep my eyes open to post the link!
just thought the WAL cats would be interested,
great bike btw dude, maybe not the best built frames but anything Ron does is cool by me!
anyone ever see that roof jump into the pool he did? :LolLolLolLol:
-
yep. fookin nutter!
-
:daumenhoch:

have to disagree dude, sorry, if you talking of design then meybe you got a point but if you talking build quality you are way out, the chrome is fantastic and the welding is nothing short of angelic, i'll post some close ups of the welds when i can be arsed but this thing is put together beautifully
-
this is as cool as it is heavy
That sums it up perfectly, lol. Great looking WAL, one of my "must have" frames.

no probs dude, i just heard so many rumours about WAL stuff it seems to get a bad rep,
looking forward to seeing it built up like,
i'll dig that roof jump pic out and post it up, rons a fooking nutter like :daumenhoch:
-
i think the rumours were about stems hitting frames when x'd up and the fact he went for 24" fork legs coz he got em on the cheap and when interviewed and asked about the design of it his reply sounded as tho he had no idea why it looked as it did, but the welds are second to none, i was really impressed by them when i got it (doesnt take much ;D). i still havnt rode it yet with work n weather n shit, i reckon itl take some gettin used to after my sport, its as heavy as 2.
-
that looks cool mate :daumenhoch:
-
Looks good Jones... I think the issue with quality was more to do with frame alignment.
-
you sayin my frames a bender :knuppel2: :LolLolLolLol:
-
Reckon alignment was indeed problem with the early ones. I got one from John Terry and it was all over the place, the rear stays were twisted and the fork drop outs were welded about an inch too far down the leg - made my early Mack look like a mass produced frame by comparison! Think I only paid a ton for it though and never rode it - sold it on the Harvey Ransome and he machined and rewelded the thing into a half rideable bike. That was of course the problem with the early rider owned companies, they rarely held a frame, fork or bars back from sale as they couldn't afford to cover the losses.
Did like the look of the WAL though ;)

right, so, that explains why i can only ride round in a circle :LolLolLolLol:
