at the risk of getting lynched!
did anyone make a frame in the 80's with a "21 or over top tube please?
"1 headtube and no brake lugs?
cheers,
-
Redline PL20 I think was the first popular 21" TT frame :daumenhoch:
-
I read somewhere, that Mongoose made a 21" frame for one of it's factory riders late 70s, early 80s. Also, SE made an over long Quad for racing downhill...
-
cheers, i'll have a butchers at those,
was there anything longer?

they all look about long enough for me to ride!
there was a way long haro on the bay recently too, i should have bagged that,
i want a frame i can properly ride without worrying about breaking something nice :LolLolLolLol:
could you have a custom O/S spec/geometry frame built and it still be O/S legal?
or would that be pushing it a little? :LolLolLolLol:
-
Are you thinking of having a few os races then Joe ?

would it have to be a non pitbull mount version?
-
I'm sure as a one off your going to be fine. Mind you they may kick up a stink if you beat them again. :LolLolLolLol:

Can't see me doing that again... ;D ;D ;D ;D be trying my best though.... Robinson won't be ready by 14th but if they are gonna be 'really' strict then I could throw something together with some spare parts.... But I'd sooner race my 25th TAP..
-
Beard the TAP is ok for Mansfield, I meant ringers to give yo an "advantage" ;)
DSD Pitbull mount Rippers are legal, Here is my baby :smitten:

I just picked up one of those bad boys, Mark, but an earlier version (91 I think) with Landing Gear Lites. Gonna swap everything over from the Assassin and maybe give it a whirl at Hersden or Dagenham in a few weeks.
Did you manage to find that spare barrel adjuster? If not, no worries, I'll stick a road bike brake on it instead.
-
I did Mike, pm me your address please mate
:) DINGO :)
-
Freeagent always ruled with the big bikes, always drooled over the old limo's...
Me and some Batey character have custom team models with a TT of 21 1/2", alloy (I have a cro mo one off from last year with a ding from Ryan Air), 21 and a half is the sweet spot...
-
Mongoose Solution was long! :daumenhoch:
-
they dont come up very often, any pics of one? or did they all get destroyed in the backyard jams? ;D ;D
-
Mongoose Solution was long! :daumenhoch:
Mmm, was the blue chromo first gen solution caliper brake? I can't remember and I rode for them! The alloy one was definately lugged.
-
I have a Haro pro XXL which I believe (I'm sure I will be corrected if I'm wrong) is a 22" top tube. Little bruv told me it's the longest BMX frame ever made.

MotomagII races a Haro Pro XXL and he says its 22". :daumenhoch:

IVE GOT TWO OF THE HARO GROUP 1'S ONE WITH 21.5 T/T AND THE OTHER WITH A 22.5 T/T :)
-
The mongoose solution in blue was caliper brake - I remember fuzzy riding one at backyard - with a bigdog or boa caliper. I would love one of those!
Se Racing also did a 21" toptubed assasin frame as well I thnk - I had one that I sold to Jai.

trust me mate you wouldn't! It was a bit of a dog, the alloy ones were better but those blue ones were nothing special, fuzzy was just exceptional. I've still got Fuzzys shirt and JT pants from that backyard, can't quite squeeze into anymore!
-
dingo is spot on as long bikes go you just cant get better than
the ripper xl. (needs an invert stem) :daumenhoch:
-

There is a sticky on one of the OS threads that has a list of all of the frames with their lengths. Personally I'm another one voting for the Limo. If you are about at dagenham this weekend you can try mine out.
-
Again like Simon and a few of the others i'm also a Limo fan. My old school racer below.

Whats the brake lever Simon ?????????
Seeing these FreeAgents just confirms why they are sought after old school racers. :smitten: :smitten:
-
its a DC Dirty Harry - NS Lever, but its the only one i can use with my paw reach.
ive gone through every OS lever in the last year, tech 3, 4, 5, 77 everything is too near the bars also i find that this one really pulls a lot of cable and i can actually get the brake to work!

I don't go fast enough to use a brake. :LolLolLolLol: When i did use mine at B'mouth the other week it hardly worked anyway, pesky DC MX 900's. :buck2:
-
Pitbull with Koolstop pads and that lever - first time ive been able to lock up the back wheel!

Generalee/gossa - The steel solution definately was caliper, it has a large diameter brake spindle hole, a pain really but as generalee points out mine has a BOA in it.
I had Duly's old one first circa 1990/1? backyard, got of hotwheels who ran the mongoose team? sent it back it was bent to buggery - what did I expect with Kieth's knarly 360's over everything. After that I bought a brand new one, still have it to this day, it suffered a bit of bastardisation with having brake lugs and cable hanger brazed on it 91/92 and then getting a chrome job! Still down in my garage - shes a beauty everytime I look at her, considering restoring the frame back to original, would love to know about the colour spec, from memory it was a weird (but nice) bluey purple metalic getup.
Anyone know where I could get a) stickers and b) forks as mine bent front ending runnymede triples in 91/2 now got gen 1 ditchforks.
