Gents, for those of you lucky to own a proclass cruiser, whats your serial number?
Thanks Mark
-
:-\ no one? i know gmac does. Anyone else? I've got 2. ;)
-
Just striped and weighed both my proclass cruiser frame and forks, Firstly the 84 frame weighs 4 1/2 lbs forks weigh just over 2lb Next the 85 frame weighs 5 1/2 lbs and the forks weigh just under 2lb
so basicly the 84 is built like a 20" proclass where as the 85 is built like a Cali. :-\
Any one want to buy one?
will add pics later when the cameras charged.
Thanks Mark

The 84 is stamped in the same place and is the same format as a proclass/supergoose, Where as the 85 is stamped and is in the same format as a cali. :daumenhoch:

I have a trimoly 20" frame (orig decal still there)
and its stamped on the "C" section not the BB shell
never found a reason why that is or if its significant at all.

off topic i know
but over on vintage Ted Carl has done a 1975 goose with his amazing restro's skills (def worth a look if you can)
and theres a bit in one of the threads about the decals
and red to the front etc, but as skip hess put it
i had bmxers and cheap labour doing that sort of work, quality control weren't high on the list
or words to that effect. :D

Get some pics up you fool :LolLolLolLol:
All the later mongoose models where mostly like the uk supergoose tubing as it was lighter than the usa super :-\ :'(
:-[ :-\ :shocked: :'( :-[ ::) ??? :( >:( :D :2funny:

Same size tubes jim, just different wall thickness's, a good comparison is the 20" proclass(thin walled tubing and the supergoose3 (83 model) exactly the same frame geometry and tube sizes only with thicker walled tubing. :daumenhoch:

Is the rear end longer on the 85 ? .
Brake bridges at different lengths or further up/down rear seat stays ???

Same postion, its just because the one on the 85 is raised and has a shape to it.
-
Is centre of BB to start of dropout the same ?
-
it's very close, the top tube is lower on the 85, i will try and take a pic tomorrow with one laid over the other so you can see the differences, they are very close just a few degrees difference. :daumenhoch:

Same brake bridge as an 85-86 eric rupe model. Just looks like a change in models from 85 then ehh :daumenhoch:

Looks like it Jim, The 84 is the lighter and proberly better bike, where as the 85 is heavier and stronger.

Great thread Mark .. your pics prove very useful and now I see the differences between each frame set :daumenhoch:
I'm looking forward to restoring that 84 now ... it'll keep me busy for a while but it's worth it :D
