very nice dan!

i agree with the peregrine pedal idea. the jps are lovely but peregrines would suit the flatland/mini frame

me thinks the mid school comp at mk08 will be interesting next year!

Very nice Dan  :daumenhoch:

I dont really like the blue, esp the headset. Its all a bit Jimmy Savile ("jewelry jewelry").

Those ti axles in the jp pedals have got to help tho  :2funny:

i can take it guys   :D
it will be amended and partly the thread was for your thoughts
i just did enjoy building one more careful than i usually would
and a virgin frame is cool its history starts with me.   :)

wohaaaay at last ...... looking good dan.
love the chrome fork with the green frame.

are they really standard strip bars (they seem to have alot of upsweep)
Title: Re: short n sweet but be gentle
Post by: harris on October 01, 2007, 07:40 PM
yes original bars mark ,just stripped n painted.

I was going to say that about the up sweep. They look like a TV arial  :LolLolLolLol:

i can take it guys   :D

If it was my bike (which it isnt)

I would loose the blue bits (polished only)
polish the stem
loose the graveyard / cranks / pedals.
replace with a 1pc, peregrine disk and peregrin pedals.
hand grenades (thats not meant as a tease)
and that gt seat thats in the post (hopefully)

so far its great bike though ... everyone will have an opinion.

EDIT ::::

pull the bars back a little (please)
and point the sadle up more if possible
Title: Re: short n sweet but be gentle
Post by: YGT on October 01, 2007, 07:45 PM
are you sure these are real standard bars?

Title: Re: short n sweet but be gentle

I know what color my next bike is gonna be! that color is great.
Title: Re: short n sweet but be gentle
Post by: harris on October 01, 2007, 08:00 PM
the bars look worse than they are, angle i guess but they are quite mellow.
its original paint  never built    i just painted the bars.
Title: Re: short n sweet but be gentle
Post by: YGT on October 01, 2007, 08:05 PM
what colour were the bars originally ?
Title: Re: short n sweet but be gentle
Post by: harris on October 01, 2007, 08:08 PM
originaly black with a different decal on the center bar
the one i was after a few weeks back
Title: Re: short n sweet but be gentle
Post by: darkersomeday on October 01, 2007, 08:14 PM
the bars look bang the same as the standard 4-pc strips i rode for years! ???

i think its the angle theyre set at thats making the sweep look different,

Title: Re: short n sweet but be gentle
Post by: YGT on October 01, 2007, 08:16 PM
I have to be honest dan , I have had a good look at those bars and based on the crossbar height and the bends they look more like dragonfly / 4Jeri bars than standards ... are they capped at the bottom?
Title: Re: short n sweet but be gentle
Post by: harris on October 01, 2007, 08:23 PM
uncapped  this is they before i had an inch welded back on then painted
(http://)(http://www.radbmx.co.uk/archive/albums/d87/harris15570/pb-sb-strip-01.jpg)
Title: Re: short n sweet but be gentle
Post by: YGT on October 01, 2007, 08:26 PM
ahhh they are 22.2mm bars?
Title: Re: short n sweet but be gentle
Post by: SaMAlex on October 01, 2007, 08:26 PM
did welding on the end caps heat the bars so much it increased the upsweep?  :LolLolLolLol:
Title: Re: short n sweet but be gentle
Post by: harris on October 01, 2007, 08:27 PM
lol its the camera  i take some more when ive changed parts they rearly aint that high
and yes 22.2 all over
Title: Re: short n sweet but be gentle
Post by: darkersomeday on October 01, 2007, 08:28 PM

dan note to ones self give alex some next time lol
Title: Re: short n sweet but be gentle
Post by: YGT on October 01, 2007, 08:48 PM
ok, they must be standards then .... all the ones I ever aw were before 2001 so they were the older versions either with 1" tubing all the way or 1" with 7/8" inserts and the angles were somewhat different on those.
Title: Re: short n sweet but be gentle
Post by: darkersomeday on October 01, 2007, 08:50 PM
they must be prototypes!

did the gaveyard come polished dude?

i'm working on a deal for some tnt stuff, the dude has a green clamp  if you want it?

i've a dk green g-sport hub but it'll be a tricky blighter to buld as the f-whels till on!

green straddle pull too!

ive got some nos standard 4 peice , kinda look the same
(http://img129.imageshack.us/img129/2324/s7001383gq1.jpg)
these are 1 inch over size, i guess there where a few variations.
i think these are later mid
Title: Re: short n sweet but be gentle
Post by: harris on October 01, 2007, 08:54 PM
the trouble i had with some parts was actualy sourcing nos or near mint parts
crank wise i was using redline 401 single pnich with bubble script and peregrines
couldnt find a chainring so custom riders had this nos polished one cheap so banged it on.

its the oversize tubes that make them look different :daumenhoch:
the bar seems to be welded lower on the oversize ones, box looks smaller too,

no probs H

such a load of old coblers ... I said it then and I will say it now ... "I will give you a coaster if then , and you do the same tricks"

truly amazing vid, with a great AFX tune.

dna   nankai lite    ..jad
Title: Re: short n sweet but be gentle

yes it needs a suntour 48 hole freecoaster with unbreak

Then you gotta do your roll backs really fast, sitting down with a really straight back, and give out loads of "raditude" as you zoom backwards across the flat bottom!

Post by: harris on October 03, 2007, 11:35 AM
i will have a looky around the bay to see whats available.cbcl has a stattic one
i do like to be able to adjust the gap as some are just to wide for me.
90s ones seem unajustable is my worry IF i do ride it.

a static coaster will be good if the inside of the shell isnt pitted or worn.....

you can change the slack in any old school coaster simply by putting a fat or thin washer inside.
