very nice dan!
i agree with the peregrine pedal idea. the jps are lovely but peregrines would suit the flatland/mini frame
me thinks the mid school comp at mk08 will be interesting next year!
-
nice :) :)
-
Yep, Peregrine pedals, no blue bits and a slow and painful death to that seat! Otherwise i love it!!
-
yep the blue bits have been bugging me badly so getting them stripped n polished.
seat is hopefully on its way.
pedals have been on then changed so will swop over.
now to start my mk08 pup now this is out the way nearly .
-
love the chainring dude, nice acs boa too, where did ya get ya pegs?
-
customriders
-
:4_17_5: :4_17_5:
Dan! that is so sweet. I'd lose the blue also. I really dig that green. Pedals gotta go too. put some platforms on there.
-
With those parts polished it's going to be gorgeous!
-
harris, me old buddy, me old pal, me old mukka, (sorry about the old). i have something that i'm gonna give you first refusal on. just because i like you and this is spot on for such a mid build.
i have sitting in my shed a super rare static freecoaster hub. could do with some new suntour inners. if your interested let me know and i'll pm you a price before it goes in the for sale section
-
I like the dark green, looks great with the chrome parts and the graveyard sprocket. Very sweet!
-
another classic dan build,
amazing dude, looks so good,
the chrome suits the green spot on, great parts choice, those static tensioners are cool as fook,
king fork combo! how rare?
peregrines are a restored superb,
fooking great build dan, i'm impressed mate :daumenhoch:
-
and a slow and painful death to that seat! Otherwise i love it!!
:2funny: :2funny: :2funny: :2funny: :2funny:
I agree with the big fella :daumenhoch: ;D
-
Very nice Dan :daumenhoch:
I dont really like the blue, esp the headset. Its all a bit Jimmy Savile ("jewelry jewelry").
Those ti axles in the jp pedals have got to help tho :2funny:
-
i can take it guys :D
it will be amended and partly the thread was for your thoughts
i just did enjoy building one more careful than i usually would
and a virgin frame is cool its history starts with me. :)
-
wohaaaay at last ...... looking good dan.
love the chrome fork with the green frame.
are they really standard strip bars (they seem to have alot of upsweep)
-
yes original bars mark ,just stripped n painted.
-
are they really standard strip bars (they seem to have alot of upsweep)
I was going to say that about the up sweep. They look like a TV arial :LolLolLolLol:
-

If it was my bike (which it isnt)
I would loose the blue bits (polished only)
polish the stem
loose the graveyard / cranks / pedals.
replace with a 1pc, peregrine disk and peregrin pedals.
hand grenades (thats not meant as a tease)
and that gt seat thats in the post (hopefully)
so far its great bike though ... everyone will have an opinion.
EDIT ::::
pull the bars back a little (please)
and point the sadle up more if possible
-
are you sure these are real standard bars?
-
Liking that, did you paint it? the colours stunning :daumenhoch:
-
I know what color my next bike is gonna be! that color is great.
-
the bars look worse than they are, angle i guess but they are quite mellow.
its original paint never built i just painted the bars.
-
what colour were the bars originally ?
-
originaly black with a different decal on the center bar
the one i was after a few weeks back
-
the bars look bang the same as the standard 4-pc strips i rode for years! ???
i think its the angle theyre set at thats making the sweep look different,
-
I have to be honest dan , I have had a good look at those bars and based on the crossbar height and the bends they look more like dragonfly / 4Jeri bars than standards ... are they capped at the bottom?
-
uncapped this is they before i had an inch welded back on then painted
(http://)(http://www.radbmx.co.uk/archive/albums/d87/harris15570/pb-sb-strip-01.jpg)
-
ahhh they are 22.2mm bars?
-
did welding on the end caps heat the bars so much it increased the upsweep? :LolLolLolLol:
-
lol its the camera i take some more when ive changed parts they rearly aint that high
and yes 22.2 all over
-
i'd say they were standards like,
these were my old ones, they look the same?
-
Oh yes. Seeing yours Joe, I think I had a pair like that too. Its just Dans pic that makes them look strange.
Here are my old pair
(http://www.radbmx.co.uk/archive/albums/r313/alexleech/T_up_springbuck_skull_with_horns.jpg)
-
dan note to ones self give alex some next time lol
-
ok, they must be standards then .... all the ones I ever aw were before 2001 so they were the older versions either with 1" tubing all the way or 1" with 7/8" inserts and the angles were somewhat different on those.
-
they must be prototypes!
did the gaveyard come polished dude?
i'm working on a deal for some tnt stuff, the dude has a green clamp if you want it?
i've a dk green g-sport hub but it'll be a tricky blighter to buld as the f-whels till on!
green straddle pull too!
lmk :daumenhoch:
-
ive got some nos standard 4 peice , kinda look the same
(http://img129.imageshack.us/img129/2324/s7001383gq1.jpg)
these are 1 inch over size, i guess there where a few variations.
i think these are later mid
-
the trouble i had with some parts was actualy sourcing nos or near mint parts
crank wise i was using redline 401 single pnich with bubble script and peregrines
couldnt find a chainring so custom riders had this nos polished one cheap so banged it on.
-
joe we will talk :daumenhoch:

its the oversize tubes that make them look different :daumenhoch:
the bar seems to be welded lower on the oversize ones, box looks smaller too,
no probs H
-
Its simply beautiful Dan - well done mate. Stunning. :4_17_5:
-
nice build Dan
loving that hardcore front end, you've really done those forks justice :daumenhoch:
did it take long to get the bearing race onto them?
they had one of the thickest chrome jobs i've ever seen
-
i had it dipped in the machine and zapped it released a few layers and the ring went on sweet :)
yep the chrome is thick as hell .
-
thats a wicked build dan, the green and chrome is awsome mate :daumenhoch:
like those pegs too :)
-
Yo dan, do you think you will ride this?

Here's some pic s of My 6piece standard Bars.
-
i would have used 6 piece if some had been available but as i said i had to go with what was available.
will i actually use this ,answer is no mark ,i did have a few rolls on it to dial the brakes in but not off the drive.
-
lovely colour dan. looks hard as nails.
-
Dan!
The Bars you used look great. I wouldn't have the patience to have them fixed and repainted.
What you doing with the yellow one? Building it too?
-
at the moment the other shortys are just in safe store
dont want to spoil them.
if the time comes then they will be sold .
-
I woke up this morning and said to myself, maybe I should look into getting an old shorty togrther to ride LOL
So I am gonna dig through my friends closet to see if i can get an old rider together :)
-
go to it ,im sure it will be a peach .
-
just started on the blue stripping.

-
ouch! how many bearings!!?? :LolLolLolLol:
shorty looks awsome dude :smitten:
did you strip the clamp? it looks perfect :daumenhoch:
one of my top 5 mid builds right there :daumenhoch:
-
Dan ! Thats even better. I gotta find some of those Peregrine pedals.
I have a Standard IND 990 brake plate coming So am gonna run a u brake on the front of mine.
After seeing your bike I'm gonna go with Green Diatech brakes and add some more green maybe.
Now for some decal and I'm happy.
Awesome build Bro!
-
yep i stripped the lot and burnt me fingers lol it took ages
as i only got one eye and getting them in was soooo much fun.
-
love that vid it always makes me wanna go ride :)

http://www.bsdforever.com/video/moliterno.mov
incredible tech mini ramp skills,
makes me want to cry........
fook it i'm building a mini in the back garden :daumenhoch:
-
I remeber when that video came out and sooo many people used to say "oh........ its cause hes riding a coaster"
such a load of old coblers ... I said it then and I will say it now ... "I will give you a coaster if then , and you do the same tricks"
truly amazing vid, with a great AFX tune.
-
Yes that is a great vid. I like most of the standard ones.
the should do a DVD box set. I'd buy one.
-
I'll be putting a bunch of mid school vids onto DVD any day now, i'll put a list up soon. Much cheapness!
Dan Dan strip and polish man! Looks so good!
-
Laz! thats great. I would love some cool Midschool dvds.
-
The Standard is looking even better now. Funny you should mention videos. When I saw Dan's bike I thought of this little clip.
-
:) hes got it going on cheers
-
That fakie gap of Moliternos has stayed with me since I first saw that vid. Ruler. :4_17_5:
-

:) DINGO :)
-
acs boa in bits!!!!!! yo fffffak'in nutter!!!!! :LolLolLolLol: you a brave man dude, RESPECT :daumenhoch:
-
i like a challenge, but for a general piece of advice DONT TRY IT YOURSELF
-
does it warrant a freecoaster???
i do run them but 90s ones are beyond me
and 10mm axles stattic peregrine khe
dna nankai lite ..jad
-
yes it needs a suntour 48 hole freecoaster with unbreak
-
yes it needs a suntour 48 hole freecoaster with unbreak
Then you gotta do your roll backs really fast, sitting down with a really straight back, and give out loads of "raditude" as you zoom backwards across the flat bottom!
-
i will have a looky around the bay to see whats available.cbcl has a stattic one
i do like to be able to adjust the gap as some are just to wide for me.
90s ones seem unajustable is my worry IF i do ride it.
-
i do like to be able to adjust the gap as some are just to wide for me.
-
a static coaster will be good if the inside of the shell isnt pitted or worn.....
you can change the slack in any old school coaster simply by putting a fat or thin washer inside.
-
nice man!
i wanna finish my new build but lost all heart for it now
