Thought id start a new thread on what our old school BMX's weigh - not very scientific this but i have used my bathroom scales and converted it to pounds via a web converter. I'll start it of - please post a pic and then the weight - should be quiet interesting as im sure you will all remember weight or should i say lightness being a big issue back in the day.
So heres mine - i have left the number plates and pads on as this would be the racing weight
83 GT PRO = 20.9 lb

Raleigh Team Replica Aero Pro 25th Anniversary (custom) = 24.3 lb

Have fun - my kids looked at me as if i was daft as a brush when they caught me weighing my bikes :LolLolLolLol:

I think your scales are out. :LolLolLolLol: i was just weighing some of mine, my proclass weighs somewhere between 21lb and 24lb bloody scales aren't that good. :daumenhoch:
-
dude i had a right proper nightmare doing mine - even roped the kids in to help :LolLolLolLol: i ended up taking three readings and reseting after each on - iv got digital scales so they should be fairly accurate - more worrying is that of the online converters i used came back with different conversions :wtf:
Anyways its all good fun and me kids had a good story to tell at school :LolLolLolLol:

Mine are digital with lbs on them. but they did vary.i will try and smuggle the proclass in to work on nights to weigh them on the scales there, they are calibrated every day to +/- 0.1g so should get a good reading. :daumenhoch: :LolLolLolLol:

love it covert proclass smuggling :LolLolLolLol: now thats dedication - mind you dont get stopped by the police :LolLolLolLol:

Tange Hot Heart tipped the scales at 26lb and 1 oz, although after riding my new school park bike at 29.9 lbs it feels like a feather.

I was surprised when i got back into BMX just how heavy a lot of the new school bikes are - but i guess thats largely a consequence of most being flat land and vert bikes so i guess they need to be beefier - and a lot of our bikes were race orientated bikes. Wonder a what a hi-spec new school race bike weighs - im sure someone out there will let me know.
I quiet like the GT Power series with aluminum frames - would have thought they are quiet light.
-
About 46 lbs (21 Kilos...) :)
