:)What`s the worst bike masquerading as a BMX that you have ever seen/owned? My friend had a German thing callled a Sprick in the early 80`s that had a plastic stem. And why do some of the newer low end "Freestyle bikes"all have v-brakes?
-
they aren't freestyle bikes mate....they're ride round the block and leave in the garden in the rain bikes :daumenhoch:
i know i'll get ripped apart...but i think the MKII Burner was pretty shamefull!
-
Plenty of crap supermarket BMX bikes in Toys-R-Us, Woolworths, Argos, etc. But most people know those are toys not proper bikes.
If we're talking about bikes which purport to be proper BMX bikes but are rubbish, then there was a bike in Ride several years ago (I think it might have been an Emmelle) which they refused to test cost it was so crap.
-
:) I remember that heap-a Barracuda Mojo!
-
looptail rippers,VDC changas, trm's etc, all got a rep for snapping so therefore masquerading as proper bmx's but not quite up to the job.
let the lynching commence :LolLolLolLol:

barracuda mojo :daumenhoch:
zanzibar pirahna
any 90's haro

That's the one. I thought it was an Emmelle as the Barracuda was distributed by Moore and Large (and Emmelle is their own brand, i.e. ML).
The guy from Moore and Large was well pissed off and offered to buy Ride mag off Mark Noble!
It really was a POS that bike!
-
What was the name of that Airborne titanium thing from the 90's? That was horrible! ( and super expensive!)
-
the airborne "miss-behavin" :buck2:
i had one for nearly a week, complete shitter :daumenhoch:
felt worse to ride than it did to look at!
raleigh "juicer"

I think it was call Miss Behavin for some peculiar reason. Charles Townsend rode one afer Robinson.
The seat tube was too long so they had a weird profile to them.
-
You got the snap and holeshot on me there, Joe!
-
iron horse dirt burner and piranhas terrible bikes
-
I raced some chick on a 'miss b having' at Hayes last year and i actually thought it looked quite a nice ride. She was an ex pro or something and royally kicked my arse :LolLolLolLol:

I cant see how my TRM would snap- looks pretty solid to me.. but I have been warned the forks are flimsey... I used to jump of 10/12 steps at my Senior school though BITD and never had any issues....
As for shit bikes..... my first universal was pretty poor.

well they are better than mkI's aren't they???
I never had a MKII as a kid only a I so I'm really enjoying my MKII's now.
When I was a kid a green street beat was my dream bike, I never had one, and there's no chance of me doing
any tricks, but I now have a raw frame and forks...I'm just not sure about building it, you know what they
say about meeting your heroes...

two shitters i remember that couple kids on my street had in the 80's were a 'viceroy' that weighed so much i think it was made of scaffold bar and had rock hard plastic grips on it that tore your hands to pieces, but from what i rember it looked the buisness with two tone met red and white paint and all red anno parts.
the other was a 'garelli' i think, it had 21 spoked plastic mags which shattered when he went off a set of six steps at the local school. :LolLolLolLol:

Yes Raleigh got the geometry ALL wrong.... but as an entry level, introduction to BMX for the price they cost you can't really complain...
"SHAMEFUL".... ::) I wouldn't be ashemed to own any of these.... :daumenhoch:

There are dozens of cr@p BMX's out there before you reach the Burner... :knuppel2: :knuppel2: :knuppel2:

to be fair i have more loathing for some of the 90's bikes from the big companies than i ever had for the burners,
anyone remember the abortion that was the haro T-bone?
the 90's mongoose too, that thing was more "mong" than "goose" :LolLolLolLol:
lastly, i have the upmost contempt for any "bmx" ever made by the company Specialized :buck2:
i did a bit of sick in my mouth just then thinking of their "fatboy" bike with the dodgy tubes,
here you go mr dialled, hope you havent just eaten ;)

For me it had to be the Saxon BMX, crap all round :daumenhoch:
-
all the current bmx's made by the big 'ol companies.
gt, mongoose etc.
just as bad as magna's
-
Tensor BMX's and Burners....oh and anything Halfords produced I.E Halfords Turbo...all shite
Tange Aero pro not classed by me as a burner before I get a ripping...I own 3 of em
-
Anyone remember the HAWK SCORCHER i think you could get them in woolworths, they looked a bit like a kuwahara :)
-

I have disagree with that mate!! yes they may be at the cheaper end of the market....but geometry wise and ride wise they are more than okay......ask Voodocars, he's got a GT complete bike and he rides it like it was a pro bike!
The whole thing about crap bikes were geometry, weight and plain crappy parts........i'd say the MKII burner was miles worst than the MK1.....i had a MKI and it was okay......rode my mates MKII and it was awful!
i always loved the MKI Tuff burner BITD :daumenhoch:
-
First bmx i had was a red Piranha with banana mags weighted an absoloutley obsence amount. It was the mutts nutts to me at the time though, but then i was only about 8 yr old.
A lad in our street had a Kalcoff that was meant to be a bmx i think.Well it looked similar as in it had two wheels and a frame. God knows were his folks got it from. We called it the Kalcoff rackoff coz it was so bad. Another two brothers had some diy bmx's that they had to build in kit form they were pretty grim aswell, carn't remember the name of them.

Ace Racing T.I.T.S.
As in the UK ACE Racing from Walthamstow ridden by Cav Strutt, Pete Middelton and Nicki Mathews? Surely not Laz I would have thought they were well before your time, around 81ish weren't they? I love my ACE Pro, band would rate it as one of the best bikes I have owned (and I have owned a fair few). Here's me on it back in 81 ...

-

-
the ace racing totally integrated trick system (lol) wasn't that bad
i think the acorn freeway was one of the worse
the tubes were so weak they just snapped in the showroom without being touched
-

:LolLolLolLol:
I had both a Halfords Turbo and a Freeway Freestyler and yes, both were shite.
Irrespective of how shite they were, I loved them both. When my parents bought the Turbo, I feckin loved it.
The Freeway weighed a ton and it had no problem with the headtube/downtube cracking that the first batch did (the ones with the GT style bent tube). I also thought the Acorn Freestyle wheels were great, although my mates tuffs were definately a better wheel. It did crack eventually at the top tube plate gusset with the seat tube :'(
