I recently got a Ripper powdered by Dan. Looks awesome. I put the bike together but made a stupid mistake by tightening the rear wheel before i got the chain on. :idiot2:
As i have tightened it i know that it is gonna mark the dropouts if i undo. Where the problem lies is that i have tried to put a chain on and it is too slack! I have an Izumi on it. The rear wheel needs pulling back and then tightening.
What i need is either a chain with bigger or smaller links so that it fits the postion that the wheel is currently tightened at. Anyone tell me if i links come in different sizes?
Cheers Nick

HEY NICK TRY FITTING HALF LINKS THAT SHOULD DO IT
RUSS :daumenhoch:

they're all a standard pitch nick on bmx, although they do come in different sizes to suit different thickness of chainrings, but you can get 1/2 links to put in if the difference of a full link goes from way too tight to way too loose?

The size of the links is fixed cos if they were smaller or bigger, the chain wouldnt fit on the chainring or the freewheel. Its not a silly question, but there isnt much you can do. That is why the frame drop out is a slot, cos you cant be sure where the wheel will need to be.
You could try changing the size of the chainring. More teeth on the chainring will make it a bigger diameter, and take up more slack in the chain. This WILL work, but there is only so far you can go.

Like diesel said. Get yourself some of these, and there will be no problem. Dont most people use them (or something similar) on PKs anyway?

I got some of those dropout sliders from that guy on ebay for the floval and even though they are very well made, they ARE WAY TOO LONG FOR ME FLOVAL DROPOUTS, so beware what you are fitting them into!
If you want to try these i think they'd be ok in the ripper, i'll send them over and you an try them, if they fit just give me what i paid the ebay guy...
