i cleaned it and rode it and liked it but it wobbled and slipped.

ive done a few more bits, like fitted another dirty harry, and routed the cables. and been throwm over the bars by the coaster.
but thats basically how it is now.
thoughts please.

I think it looks much better, what cranks are they ? & what forks ?
Nice dog, did you get it from Orb ;)
-
awesome
i'd like you to do a bit of boinging for me too!
on my lg's
-
:) Defo improved! GT forks????
-
Novice.
-
the forks blend in nice
if it were mine, i would run some newschool pegs, and a straight post on it.
and pull the bars back a tad.
and the jury is still out on whether i can ride tuffs without them bending under my girth
looking good though. so much better for having good brakes.
-
Nice to see the spastic dog is in the shot though.
-
yeah it looks a lot better.
-
reckon the headtube will stay on? ;)

cranks are redline proline, forks are gt packman.
Novice.
i expected no less.
reckon the headtube will stay on? ;)
lets hope so. if not i will weld a gusset. you notice ive cleaned up the old shoe horn area?
the gt forks fit well with nu skool pegs, and i have some nice Ti ones but im loathe to put them on cos of the 10mm axles, which i have bent before now. we'll see about that at a later date. i need to do some ridin on it now, to iron out the flaws. but to tell you the truth, it feels very classy, from my initial drunken ride to the shop for more beer.
-
but i guarentee the grips will stay on, odi longnecks, the cranks wont wobble, redline proline, and with the 39 tooth chain ring, i wont be clippety cloppin on the copin, thats for sure.
-
I think it looks alot better, and now you've got a spare set of Cee Dubbs to slap on summat else 8)
-
& it will stop much better with the 990's

and a set of action zone, tiga taskforce crank, dx's, tuffneck stem, tuffneck chainring etc etc.....

I preferred the colour scheme from the old version, but the new hardware additions, wheels excepted are a defo improvement!!
-
hey, try and get nu school lavender anything, and i will eat my hat. lol

oldschool/new component builds make for great bikes.

Be the ball Danny, be the ball.

that is still a prob that needs fine adjustment. when the bars are turned 360, it sticks a bit at 180.
i may need to change the bearins to a different size. i have big in the bottom, and smaller in the top. in the bottom cup, i have seen some wear through the chrome at the back of the cup. you would think it was through lack of ballbearings, ie they bunch up at a certain point. but it is stuffed with them. i may polish the fbm stem yet, si i will fiddle with them when i do that job

yeh mine do that
i am wondering whether there are too many in there
-
well you do yours, tell me, and then i dont have to get dirty. its common.
-
ok mate
added bonus is mine aint built into a bike, just a-hanging on my wall!!!
i will do it when i get home from work.
-
& it will stop much better with the 990's
im hoping so. its got oddy evolvers, oddy linear slicks and dirty harry levers, and a coaster. if this bike doesnt stop, nothing will. lol
-
Looks good to me.
-
I have to say that I prefered it in it's original guise, but then again, I don't ride my old school stuff.
I've just taken delivery of a Rickman. Not only is it the first one I've owned, but it's the first one I've seen close-up. All I can say is that thay look to be a great frameset. Mine certainly appears to have had a lot of abuse and everything still looks straight.
Looking forward to completing mine (in the distant future).
By the way - want to sell those Action Zone bars and DX pedals?
-
lookin cool dude, built as a bike should be, as you use it and mould it to your needs, but preferred it with the white bars myself.
-
me too, but they are extremely wide, and apparently they bend very easily.....
-
Why is the dog a spastic, it looks quite loyal :)
Rich
-
ask orb...he did the picture....lol
-
Phil,
If Rickman had made that bike just like that they would have sold shed loads!!! Much better now you've made changes to the forks and cut that crap off the back. You should now make the Decals funky and new school.......................................
"The man has rid the world of a clothes horse and done good!.................Let us rejoice this minor moment of sanity and pray others follow this path"
I like it :)
-
well i take that as high praise coming from u steve....
-
seems like the 21st century rickman is a hit.
-

Cheers Phil!
-
If ya gonna ride it dude, you've done the right thing! Pete (Quadrophenia) always puts Primo Walls on his old rides and swears by 'em...also, can't beat a pair of Evolvers to do the stopping!
Not purist, but good work dude!
-
yeah, the walls are heavy, but they stick like a sticky stick insect thats been stuck to a pot of sticklebricks

Absolutely Fruity - I run one on the back of my new school...they rock!
-
ask orb...he did the picture....lol
And he stepped over the line. :knuppel2:
-
i may just have to invest in a set of these primo wall tyres if there so good. i think me ole haro tyres are about had it.
-
dordy, ive got a green set if you need em. primo wall grips too.
-
have em dave for the greenbeat
one step closer to making it your daily ride ;)

Dordy - make sure you go for a 2.1 up front and a 1.85 at the back...I went for two skinny ones at first and it was too twitchy.
I now run a 2.1 Primo V-Monster up front and the 1.85 Wall on the back - perfect IMO.
