Title: Gyro tab help - pretty please (with cherries on top)
Post by: Moose on October 30, 2007, 10:32 AM
I have a new school frame that has fixed gyro tabs, but one side hasn't been tapped to accept the barrel adjuster - anyone know what tap size?

4mm? 6mm? I presume it'll be metric, but hoping for imperial (I have plenty of imperial taps and very few metric)  ::)

Edit: Looks like 6mm?? ???

There are a couple of sizes of brake adjusters but Im guessing one of them must be more used.

I got a gyro cable the other day and it didnt fit my top gyro plate! The cable actually came with both size adjusters but one of them had fallen out of a hole on the bag.

Pretty sure its just a regular M6 thread. For some reason though 24" jump bikes have a left hand thread!!!!

Yeah, I'll say M6 too.  There are definately two different sizes, the earlier stuff being smaller but I think thats all gone now.

It was M6 - all done now.

And you're definately right about the two different sizes and I think different cables for different make of gyro/oryg (wish I'd have known that)  :(
