4 Holes = Cycle Pro forks, landing gear came out in 81.

Cycle Pro are the correct fork for an early Ripper or Quad :daumenhoch:

Not sure mate, I think it was only the early SE Landing Gear that had no holes.

right click and copy the link on your photobucket picture, then post it up here.

you also need to use the '2nd' link under the photobucket pic, the first one won't work.... :)

I had one in my youth and left it at my dads as you do and last year when i went to get her out of retirment much to my disbelief and horror he had skipped it along with my brothers hutch pro star  :2gunsfiring_v1: i could have killed the old slaphead with the kungfu chop from hell bless him the old retard :idiot2: so i have it all to do again and i cant wait its giving me a right buzz so if anyone has a prostar for sale please give me a bell  :daumenhoch:

That is a lovely set mate , proper history , early pre se made forks all original decals , hmmmm for me i would keep that as is , however if it was my first bike to get back into it , I know i would be sorely tempted to restore it

so think on this

i , and many others on here would give you a fully restored ripper for it and i would proberbly offer other parts and or cash for it

its a rare beast espesh like that , in lovely lovely original survivor condition

whatever you do , enjoy restoring it , its a buet

if i was going to build it , i would try for used parts to keep it fully looking like a survivor

lovely find and lovely to see that these things are still out there

Rich

In fact trying to source old yet "Right" bits will be much harder than fitting NOS parts ,you are going to need the right patina lol

You answered my next question what bits did they have only thing i have is a one piece redline crank its old but i dont know the age of that so anybody with info pictures or genral stuff please let me know as i need all the help i can get and would be real glad for it as i am going to leave it as a surviour or i feel i will be thrown to the radbmx lions  ;D  and you boys know your stuff cheers guys  :daumenhoch:
Title: Re: my forks are they real
Post by: Waxintaxin on November 08, 2007, 04:49 PM
It may have come as a full bike , but not so sure , most came as frame sets , so parts are your choice

got to be redline 401s for that age as i dont think 400s or profiles were about that early

spokes such as 7c or 7bs  or tuff 1s

dia compe 890s

all era correct for that frame

Ooo, I missed this thread. That looks really cool.

I'd go with a tuff neck square corner stem

old 1pc cranks (old ones)

rat-trap pedals

if you can't get the arayas or tuff 1's you could try femco's or CMC's (I think it was CMC) or any heavy duty steel rims

What bars were about at this time

Race Inc or Tuf Neck alloy  ;)

Early SE bars maybe ?

Weren't the first tuff II's out by 1980??

some of the alloy cranks were available too dura, 600, I'm sure the Suntour VX's also.

Have a look in the museum on this site plus, check out the SE bikes and older mongeese etc on the http://www.bmxmuseum.com/ site too.

Sweet find by the way :daumenhoch:

sweet find and yep they are real ,same as raceinc forks on ra 10 `s

vx cranks or dura ace for sure, i like 600's but i would go for vx's first on a ripper. MX5 headset(if you can find one) redline alloy v bars or race inc bars, mx seat, araya 7c's (or 7b's if your budget goes that far) square corner tuf neck, shimano tourney brakes etc, etc  just have to remember it's not mine :smitten: 'cause i wish it was.
