Title: VDC is caught
Post by: WARDY on November 12, 2007, 07:38 PM
THe VDC f/f i purchased off here a couple weeks back off that toby fellow has been caught in customs.I emailed him earlier to see when hed posted it. He then checked on the tracking and emailed me saying it is in the Uk , he gave me the tracking number which i checked on parcel force. It read :

10-11-2007  02:04  Birmingham South Depot Awaiting payment of charges
10-11-2007  01:57  O22075 Arrived at delivery depot
09-11-2007  23:55  P78554 Scanned at Hub
09-11-2007  21:35  International Hub En route to delivery depot
09-11-2007  19:10  International Hub RELEASED WITH CHARGES
09-11-2007  12:22  International Hub AWAITING CUSTOMS CHARGING
09-11-2007  12:22  International Hub AWAITING CUSTOMS CHARGES
09-11-2007  11:48  International Hub Arrived in destination country
02-11-2007  05:12  CAPE ISC LOS ANGELES CA (USPS) Left origin country
31-10-2007  13:47  Delivery Agent - UNITED STATES AMERICA Collected from customer

Then the sweats started to come, because i didnt know if hed put the full value of what id paid.So i emailed him to ask, and luckily hed only put on it $400 dollars  (which probably is a risk if lost)  i think the charge is around £50, but if he had put the full value on id have been sitting here now rocking on the chair  mumbling to me self. I think that the only way with customs is this way , a lower value on the item

isnt it 17.5 % vat, and say on £200 thats  £35 + 4% import duty thats £8 . total £43 then theres parcel force charge (even though they havent delivered it ) which i think they make up as they go along, because i have had 3 different costs 4 similar items.

there all w*nkers,  I got a parcel from Fed Ex, they left it next door, it had a declared value of $75, I gotr a letter a week later demanding £42, thats more than the value of the item, they said customs added the postage cost on caus it was in a big box,  only way now is $25 I reckon

:wtf:  :Aresehole: :2gunsfiring_v1: :tickedoff: :bondage:

Unless you put the customs code for bike parts etc on the parcel you'll be looking at the converted value declared $400 plus the cost of shipping (that is always stated on the papers anyway) plus your import duty say 4% on total.

Goods $400 = £200
Shipping est $100 = £50

duty at 4% = £10

Vat on total £45.5

plus either an £8 or £13 charge that is described as Parcel force admin, but I have been told by parcel force they are fff'd off with customs about this becuase they get it in the ear every time someone comes to pick up the goods, but the charge is actually an admin fee charged by HMRC to pass the goods on to parcel force for onward delivery. Afterall they have been paid for handling the postage with the payment made to the us PO.

My guess total will be in the order of £68.5.

Don't wait for the letter, ring Parcel Force with the tracking ref and pay over the phone. That way the bike will get moving before the Christmas rush.
