Dialled Bikes MX20 frame al the way. You'll never have to buy another frame again. It's the only new school frame I'd consider. Besides they're designed in England by a top bloke who supports the race scene big time. :daumenhoch:

stay away from rippers.only heard of 2 bikes snap in recent years and they've both been rippers.new school kuwahara or haro's from tibbs cycles.good price top spec if your on a budget..go cromo if you can mate but dialled, standards and s+m's aint cheap but they are quite simply head and shoulders above the rest.balanced perfectly and strong as an ox.you will never need another race bike.simple as that.

And were the rippers black or ball burnish ones ?

Tony they were improved in 2006 and not one has been reported to snap since

Hi jai, they were the burnished ones, Martin Parker snapped his one and Dave Maxwell, both are accomplished riders. I am sure they are the 06 models.

They were 2004 models not 06, se change the colours every year and the decals only PK Rippers that came in in 2006 were the team model
and the colour was baby blue and gun metal

Some shops take the piss and sell old models as new for that year to keep the price higher we saw it recently when someone brought a
pk ripper thought it was a 2007 model as the shop told them and it was really a 2004 and it needed a new crank under warranty

I rode BMX-796's Dialled MX20 on the CIN ride and what an absolutely amazing bike, everything about the frame is spot on.

Thanks for the glowing votes of confidence guys (and gal)  :daumenhoch:

I'm all out of BMX frames right now, but am currently working on a more race focussed MX20 frame (made of Reyolds 853 instead of Reynolds 520) in sizes ranging from Expert XL (19.75" TT) to Pro XXL (22" TT).

Like Justin says above, frames on their own seem expensive when compared to a complete bike from the likes of SE, Redline, etc.  But as my old woodwork teacher used to say, ya pays ya money, ya makes ya choice.

In answer to Matt's original question, if I was buying a complete bike off the peg I'd be more inclined to look at the Redline and Haro range as I know plenty of people who have those (including my son) and they seem like very good value well spec'd bikes.  I also like the retro SE stuff, but not so much the new school stuff.

Most off the peg bikes are aluminium though, which I'm not a massive fan of.  It's all about the cro-mo for me (and Ti of course  ;)).

How about buying one of these (maybe not from Winstanleys though) and replacing the frame with a Dialled when Mike has the new ones finished?   ???
