If your going for a retro bike, i would reccommend staying away from things like the haro sport.
they are really just bog standard "budget" complete bikes.
its a shame to be stuck with a heavy lifeless bike when at this age you should be able to afford any bike you want.
theres SSSOO much tasty super-tech new school stuff out there, why not take advantage of it and make some super bling bike, that makes you want to ride every tie you see or even think about it!
theres so many colours ans styles of parts out there, you could build yourself any kinda bike you like.
get a kuwahara mase r , wack on some gold rims & fly pantera V bars. How lush would that be!
- oh, and I dont think any bike could make you ride like ryan sheckler, as he is a pro "skateboarder" ;D ;D

really want a retro the others just dont
do it for me :-\
would a quad or a ripper be ok on a park?
considering my inability to pull and major tricks.
OH i should have wrote Ryan Guettler ::) ::) :2funny: :2funny: :2funny:

If you really want to ride skateparks then get yourself a decent new school bike, these retro bikes are made for looking at and wont take the abuse.
As Jesus said ( ;D ) you can make a new school look as nice as you want, the choice of parts and colours is huge.

The Kappa's will, Scott has the prototypes tested REAL hard before allowing production
:) DINGO :)
-
Not exactly mass production though, are they. ;)

So??
does that make them bad? have you owned one/took a CLOSE look at one?
I own/have owned S&M bikes and Kappa's and they are easily equal in build quality,
what do YOU ride?
:) DINGO :)

Dingo, aren't they a little short though for anyone over 5'8"? :LolLolLolLol:
I've always liked the Kappa frames and nearly bought Zippy's when he was selling it but it was just that little bit too short for me as I'm 6' tall.
The only irritation I have with Kappa is the double standards applied by some in the community; alright for Kappa to make a "retro" or "tribute" but gawd help anyone else the does it :LolLolLolLol:

PK20 frames are 21" TT and short rear ends, Quad 24 is 21.5 tt and 15" rear end real new school geometry
The Starsky frames are short TT ones though
I am gonna upset the applecart soon Marty, I have some Johnny Chopper cranks coming to bolt to my Kappa :10_2_12:
:) DINGO :)

Zippy's was a Starsky so that explains that :daumenhoch:
I love the JC stuff, are these his new school cranks the boxy ones? They look sweet. I'm thinking of getting a few bits from him shipped to my dad's in WA for when I go over at Easter next year. I think he makes quality gear and DOES mark them up now as JC made so can't see why anyone would get too upset about it. Anyway, the community has Heath to :10_2_12: :LolLolLolLol:.

So? It means availablility is a bit of a problem. Is that So? enough for you?
And what's with the attitude? Yes, I have seen them close up, I have in fact ridden two or three of them. They're okay, if you like that sort of thing. Over-priced though.
As for what I ride, currently a Premium Products frame, but my Standard 250L is awaiting build.

JJ is offering Dwain his PK20 so no availability problem there is there?
My attitude is because your statement that "retro" bikes are to be looked at is a load of sh1t
over priced??? My Quad cruiser is one of only two ever made and was £400 shipped for F,F & barswith a special sparkle candy blue paint job, how much was your Standard??
Ferrari are hardly "mass produced" too are they? :LolLolLolLol:
:) DINGO :)

In comparison to Kappa they are. ;D

mass produced "retro" frame from SE

my frame

notice the subtle difference in design? beefier tubes? so you can ride one without worrying about flex ect>>>
dont tar all retro builders with the same brush eh?
:) DINGO :)

your argument is falling down fella, Kappa do "mass produce" some models but others like the ones I own are small run custom frames where you can choose EXACTLY what you want, much like Joe DSD's custom S&M
:) DINGO :)

oh look "limited production" on the frame listing :idiot2:
Back on subject, DD if you want a frame with OS looks but with modern Geometry and technology you wont go far wrong with JJ's PK20
heres my old one if you dont know how they look?
could easily be built up to look like an OS freestyler if that is your bag?
Frame as it came from Muttley

Like I said earlier,
get a new school KUWI they are sssoo tasty.
Wack some new school v bars (fly pantera) & some gold rims on the maseR frame and it would look so incredibly rad!
Race frame:
their complete builds are nice too, but they dont have the retro paint job!
Park bike:
quite hard to get hold of here, but itd be worth it!
-
TBH Jesus you can spray up any NS frame and slap some decals on without going to the trouble of sourcing a Kuwi
McNulty's Fit S3

i type too slow, your quad cruiser mate worth every penny if you ask me :daumenhoch:
-
heres a home-brewed version i whipped up for a mate,
perfectly rideable and cheap at less than £200 :daumenhoch:
enjoyed building it too actually!
i'm not the greatest fan of corporate companies "raping" the back catalogues for a few quid, but its a worse insult when they drop a real turd out! (haro)
at least do the old bikes justice!
the kappa's are about the best at it and seem to give a shit about the product they put out, i'd rather have a "copy" from a builder that puts a little care into it than some stamped out clone from the "original" company :daumenhoch:
my advice would be to just buy a good quality frame and do your own :daumenhoch:
-
joe them rear drops been reworked they look well tiny
-
At the end of the day it's all about personal choice :daumenhoch:

no dude, they came like that on the 90's pro-series frames!
crazy small eh?
check how low slung the frame is too! before its time? :LolLolLolLol:
