Title: shimano dx pedal colours
Post by: rakas17 on December 01, 2005, 12:53 AM
can anyone tell me what colours dx's came in cos i've just got some off ebay and they need restoring but i'm not sure what to do with em... were they all anodized or did they come in paint..?

probably easiest for me to respray em as i've got access to do it myself.. i think 2pack would probably stay on...

cheers for looking,  and help appreciated...

Im sure DX's were painted....usual colours ie: black white red yellow blue silver gold

i used a little nitromors on my DX's, the paint fell off (bit of wire wool helps)
i think SX's were anodized.

oh by the way it was mine you won..posting today  :)

DX were a clear plastic coat , swhy they look annodised as the alloy kinda shines through the clear coat. It is still availiable as a plastic coat but you need to find a coater who will buy a load of clear coat for some pedals lol, same stuff as the super burner gold stuff

silver DXs had a  better finnishIE polished out  well , as i suppose they thought the coat would hide the crappy finnishing.

swhy the inspector gets it off

Interesting....  I would have sworn they were anodised... The red ones on my Condor certainly look anodised and they were NOS when I bought 'em.

Always used caustic soda to strip them back in the day also.   ;)

I have got some Shimano DX in blue that are wearing back to silver and they definitely look like they were annodised! I have also got some copies and they are plastic coated.

When I stripped some blue ones earlier in the year they looked like they were painted with a white base coat and then a metallic (coloured) finish applied on top of that.

So that gold finish is paint not anno?

I'll get some mors on some black ones I have then try the rubbin' and the sandin' and the polishin' to get the blingy finish :coolsmiley:

moors dont touch anno , so they must be a coat was my reckonin on the situation, the coat seems to wear as ano would , but 3 sets have all been a coat. and moors has done gold ,red, black so far
