-
I guess becuase I have no idea what this is about I can't be guilty of anything.
-
he's got a dodgy ticker alex
-
Thats lame man, he is such a good bloke. Is he still on the cyclone Email so I can drop him a line tomorrow?
What have people been being "proper pricks" about? Its not like you need that when you are ill.
-
well when cyclone was still open i was trying 2 get as many people to go own there as possble.
so that it would get him as much money as poss.
an when peopel was saying i need this i was saying cyclone is the place 2 go an all that shit.
an people was like no fook that man.
as he is ill they didnt restock very ofter but was doing things 2 order. coz he was not there.

It's always a shame when a shop closes. It's like a little bit of the scene dies with it.
All the best to Ray for the future. Health must come first.
Jack, people around you will haveten disappoint you buddy. Fact of life I'm afraid ;)
-
Man, I didnt even know Cyclone was closed! How much to I suck!!!!
That shop was the top dogs! It made and supported a movement all by itself!
Good luck Ray, I hope to cross paths with you again soon.
-
It only went at the end of November Alex, ie last week, with no publicity at all.
Bloody hard to make money in a shop these days :(
-
that is so crap. He and John made that shop work through the whole of the "quiet times" and now, in this BMX boom time, it had to go? There is reason enough to get your parts from the shops who earned it, not just the places that are a few quid cheaper! You know that the Highstreet Extream shops wont give a crap about getting you BMX parts when it "dies out" again so why support them now!
Im off to put a cyclone cycles sticker on my bike (not that its going to help Ray any)
-
ive just found a cyclones sticker in me van i didnt even know i had
the robot from dr who
thats going on my bike aswell
-
jack mate, the thing with cyclone is, it's a business, love for a sport doesn't pay the bills,
after a massive heart attack and nearly seeing the heavens, maybe ray had to take stock of
his life and to see what's now at this moment in time is really important, Ray told me himself
he carried 60 grand of stock, now do the maths, that a hell of a lot of gear to sell,
i just think, forget any rumours, his life and well being is worth more then cyclone,
forget any bad mouthing. the shop didn't make ends meet so it had to go :(
that's life jack, but now this is rays life, Ray make a full recovery mate :daumenhoch:
-
You're right about carrying the stock. My tiny little box of a shop at Rom always had £3000 worth in it, and you could fit it all in the back of one car.
Fully stocking a shop is not easy at all. Especially when each month brings a new product and you're left saddled with last months now uncool component.... That's why so much stuff is done to order.
-
didnt know cyclone had shut :(
never actually went there but ordered plenty of stuff over phone from them

Me too! Ray is a diamond! (ever hear his Butthead impression?) Gave me a free Union hoody last time I was there! Top bloke! I wish him all the best.
-
This is sad news.
Ray wouldn't know me from Adam (though he might recognise me if he saw me), but I used to go in the shop in the mid-90s and spoke to Ray at one of the Backyard Jams. Nice bloke (dunno whether the lady in the shop who wore specs was his other half or not, but she was cool too) and excellent shop. Shame to see it go and to hear of Ray's health problems. Hope he gets well soon.
-
Top blokes in Cyclone - only met them on a couple of occasions when I dropped in to have my wheels built. A mate of mine pointed me in their direction as he knows them all very well.
I hope Ray is on the mend :daumenhoch:

Im thinkin of ya Ray :daumenhoch:
