I'm down the tip tomorrow, perhaps there will be one sitting on top of the metal pile? perhaps...

I doubt it will happen imh, the same as an ace frame wont turn up. I would love to be wrong and I hope I am :(

tone, can you believe about 15 years ago i painted shit loads of ace frames that superbike bought from ace when
they went under, painted them all in typical 90s colours and that was about 3 years after i left superbike and started painting for
a living, if only i knew ???
-
It's all out there chaps just waiting to be found.
And remember the searching and the anticipation is one of the best things about our hobby. :daumenhoch:

I heard you had the job Dan, gutted mate. Nikki and Andy rode mongooses while on ACE, before they made frames. The ACE frames had a solid gusset, like a COOKS?
:(
-
got a pic of one?

got a pic of one?
Not a clear one, only martys one. Was a loopy with solid gusset plates, very prone to stresses in the tube just after the gusset. Stevie vinoah may have a pic in the ark with a bit of luck

tone, your ace frames are a big part of me and my dads life, how sad is this, when i rode a bmx as a kid my dad had no interest,
he just couldn't care,
then when i got better on my bike superbike took me in as a family member, they took me every where racing,
working in the shop with pat and making me a part of a big family, the best times of my young life,
now when i was around 18 and gave up bmx to start work, my old manager walks into my work and says can we paint all these
old frames a new colour, they where ace frames that superbike had bought from ace when they went under,
now i said to my dad, can you help me out, i have shit loads of these frames and could you flat them down for me,
he had just retired from Fords due to ill health at the age of 59 and from a top management job :)
so my dad helped me out preparing the ace frames for painting and the job he made of them was amazing,
he was so proud to still do some work, then a few months later he died,
my last memory of my dad was being proud of his work in preparing these ace frames for me to paint :(
but i never felt he was proud of me as a rider, when i walked in with trophies i'd won he just didn't seem
to care :'(
this is why today i will support everything billy does in bmx, i will be there till the end and that's why i'm
so proud of him, i would never let billy feel alone in his achievments like i was,
as a dad he is my number 1 :4_17_5:
so that's my story with ace bmx :-\
-
Well Dan, your Billy is the ACE now!
(Sorry that was soooooo cheesey .... but its true! :daumenhoch:)
-
Dan, that story is fookin :'( mate, but at least you have done the right thing by your two, Billy will look back on his riding career and know you was 100% behind him every step of the way, you are not only superbike dan but superbike dad.
My Dad has his cancer op on the 20th, just praying that goes ok, life is a lot sadder without them about
-
Dan, like Ratty says, an emotional story but a good memory all the same and perhaps it's something that your felt closer to you about :daumenhoch:.
Stodgy, sorry it looks like we've hijacked your thread :-[.
Stidds, here's a close up of my one. I never suffered any stress cracks but would comment that the chainstays were very close together making it a tight fit for the rear wheel; but I loved that bike and then some t0sser nicked it :2gunsfiring_v1:.

ACE racing was based in walthamstow in east london, and some of the best riders in the UK started there, Andy, Cav Strutt, Pete Middleton, Trevor Shanks, Scott McDonald, Steve Gilley, Nicki Matthews, Marty and me all rode for them
