Lads, bought some Haro copy bars from Jon, these were described as rusty and in need of a re-chrome and when they arrived they weren't in good shape which I knew anyway. I don't have an acid bath as yet but thought i'll try something I read about on the web. I took a 1-metre length of kitchen foil and scrunched it up into a ball, then poured a very small glass of coca-cola (one for me also with JD in it ;) ) and dipped it into the coke and started rubbing the bars. No lie, about 15 mins later and not a lot of elbow grease to be honest, here is the result. It basically took off all the rust easily and after a quick once over with Brasso wading, the result is very good, no need for a re-chrome at all. Very happy. What do you reckon? Just need some Bob Haro Vector decals now... 8)

Thanks lads, yeah it really has amazed me.... just shows you what coca-cola can do to our stomach's eh? ;)

Ive got loads of rust in my belly so it should work wonders.

Haha :D Because it worked so well I dug out the kuwi from the loft and had a look at that, only thing is that the chrome really has pealed on that :( so can't do my foil trick on it unfortunately... will try it on my survivor Ammaco though that's for sure as it really did work well.

Wow great job I shall be trying that at the weekend.

Try it lads, it really works... also you hardly use any coke too... I think I used not even a quarter of a small whiskey glass full to do them bars, so to do a whole frame you'll probably use a glass or two. Its certainly a cheap way of removing rust from chrome that's for sure. Then afterwards either use autosol or something similar to buff them up to a bling finish ;)
