Title: highjacking threads
Post by: martin46 on December 11, 2007, 06:59 PM
why do some people feel the need to post on others (for sale) thread's with negative comments on pricing? especially if you're not even interested in making an offer.

unless an item is a fake or misadvertised i personally think you should mind your own business.

If you feel the item is over priced, dont buy it and leave it at that.

If you can get it cheaper, well done, go buy it some where else.

i dont think there are any on here that are out to rip anyone off, most people just like to recoup what they have paid for stuff or get somewhere near the current market value. fair enough in my book.

You can get this thread much cheaper at www.don'tbuymystuff.com. There was one a week ago that had much more ranting and went for far less.

But is this not a community? A community spirit with members which look out for and helps others?

There has been a few blatant p*ss takes as far as for sale posts that i can see since being a member. So what does that say about the poster?

All very well in day to day banter across the site, all very well in letting other members source and find that elusive part for your build... "but hey,i've got something to sell,i know it can be bought a hell of a lot cheaper elsewhere, but what the heck,i'll try and sting my fellow RADsters first,eh?"

If they want "to recoup" what they paid then why not go straight to the evilbay and set a reserve?

Hijacking is a harsh term, but in order to understand,You obviously have an example thread Martin, why dont you share it with us?

anyone watching the liverpool game tonight?

I see the dudes, point, but we'd be doing you a service if we told you you were over pricing your item, do you could then revise it and make a sale.

it's allways the buying and selling that brings out the bad blood. At the same time we defend arsholes because we 'had a good deal' with them. This hobby is marred by the trading side of things. From rip off merchants to advantage takers it's all in the game.

Right, this thread is now under the control of the "Peoples front of Platt Bridge"

We will shortly be issuing a list of demands to the authorities and its fair to warn you that if they are not met we will execute one Radster every 10 minutes.

some of the prices for bmx stuff for sale are out of this world

if i am gonna take the piss on pricing i tend to stick it on the bay

Title: Re: highjacking threads
Post by: JT71 on December 12, 2007, 09:19 AM
and this thread all stemmed from someone daring to suggest that £50 was too much for some Vans that are available for £30.

I don't see a problem with it tbh. It's all about self policing, if you think the price on something is high why not say? It's up to the seller/buyer wheather they take that on board though.

I agree, if you don't want opinions then go to ebay. offering them on a forum is inviting comment.
(but I am new here, so I'll shut up now)

if the price is too high don't buy em, simple as that.

occassionally it can work in your favour, its always the last bit of a build that takes the longest to find, then someone posts summat up thats over priced n its left hangin for the person who really needs it to spot it, rather than it go in an instant to the more regular users on the site.

pricing is awkward at the best of times especially if its something that doesnt come up very often (is it rare n worth owt/or just not many about coz they are shite?).

i reckon you should just stack em up n see how they fall, but i have seen some really shocking comments on for sale threads that would piss me off if they were put on mine, but as long as its advisary or at least constructive and not derogatory then i can't see any problem.
